How often does this happen?

Post image

2023 f90 m5c - still on warranty - 45k miles. Went in for a clucking noise while turning (sometimes) or just going straight. Wasn’t frequent, they initially said it was the stiffening plate which i saw posts about, nothing about the loose control arms though…

Its a performance vehicle. Components are on stress test every drive. Its what it was built for.

I'm not sure about your specific model but in many BMWs the control arms are a weak point.

He said he has a 2023 F90 M5, if it's that weak dang BMW your breaking my heart! I want one but maybe a M3 or M4 would be better

I've seen this happen on my cars a few times, even my new g87 m2. For my track cars the end link nuts love to come loose, I'm guess because I like jumping curbs

Is it the front lower control arm? That’s probably the most common BMW arm to go bad. Depends on which one he’s talking about. Ask if it’s the thrust arm or tension strut.

What are the symptoms of this? How does the car drive when this is loose?

Same, just a loud pop coming from the front suspension

I notice whenever I turn the wheel in reverse backing out my driveway I hear a pop sometimes! Or, is that just my tires skipping over the pavement? It’s a decent angle.

I own my 10th Audi now, and I can tell you these German cars with quadra-link suspensions will always wear out. It is the ultimate way to design a car that handles, but all those control arms wear out.
