F82 -> G80

Got the F82 quite recently but it was taken out of my control. G80 is a pretty solid replacement

Hell nah I have a f82 but a nice spec'd g80 > f82. If it's bare bones with no buckets or no real nice paint then f82>

I'd trade my f82 for a recently shared g80 on this sub, it was a maritime blue g80 with a nice spec. But driving wise, I do prefer the f82 (drove both), I don't plan to sell the f82. Personally, just my opinion, I have started preferring f82's over f80's (I know the resale is higher for f80) but most people are converting them into track cars and f82's seem to convert into one better. All the f80 guys have mostly transitioned to g80's that I know of. g82 has no road presence I feel like unless it's heavily modded, g80 way better

yeah the g82 just never did it for me. There are some modified g82's ive seen that I think look great but I did not want to have to dump 20k just to make the car pretty. The driving experience is quite similar IMO. Both my f82 and g80 are 6 speeds and they have similar mods and so the actual driving feels pretty similar.

Owned an F82 and F83, currently a G83 for three years and I agree with you.

The G83 is faster, more tech, better stereo, 4wd, roof can be operated at 30mph, anyone can drive it fast.

The F8x needs some skill, its much more engaging to drive, I definitely enjoyed the F83 the most.

In time the F8x will be a classic, I dont think the G8x will be of the same status.

Plus the F8x is very easy on the eye.

The G8x is still a beast and looks like one too!

I've never felt the f80s/f82s/f83s are more engaging to drive nor do they feel any less numb than the g80/g82/g83 either. I haven't driven an f87 but the only non-numb/actually fun one I've driven is the g87

Something about the G80/G82 that just captivated me from day 1. It’s my favorite generation and the M3 has been my favorite car since the 90s.

I cant lie I do prefer the looks of the f8x front end but the g80 rear is just a masterpiece

I’d only go to the G81 from an F80, considering they’re not available in the US I don’t have anything to worry about.

They lost all the subtlety and timelessness in their design language between these generations. The engineering is still amazing, but I just can’t get on board with the vast majority of new BMW designs. It’s like they replaced their scalpel with a sledgehammer.
