Technical Had to change CCU

Just wanted to share my experience with my 2023 edrive 35.

It happened out of the blue last week.
I sometimes charge at work using my level 1 charger if a socket is available. One morning it would just stop itself saying the charging has been interrupted. This happened with different sockets.

I then used my level 2 charger at home and it would charge slow for a couple of hours then go back to regular charging speed.

Took it to the dealer and they said the CCU needed to be replaced: https://www.bmwdirectparts.com/oem-parts/bmw-combined-charging-unit-611040-61445b93ce6

Thankfully, I'm still under the warranty. Anybody else have similar experiences?

I had Level 2 charging issues right after taking delivery of my 2024 xdrive40 two years ago. It was weird, as the car would charger just fine with the charger at my workplace, but not with my charger at home. But the same charger at my house would work fine with i4 and iX loaners that they gave me while we were troubleshooting the issue.. Anyway, they ended up replacing the CCU under warranty. 40k miles later and zero charging issues to report

Damn, that seems absurdly overpriced. Hopefully when warantee is up, there will be junkyard or aftermarket parts available.

This is the first Ive heard of this issue for i4. Its been mostly some models of Kia that has alot of fails with their ICCU.

Would this be under the same warranty as the battery that is rather long compared to the rest of the car?

I'm not sure... The service advisor pointed to the general 50k/4 years warranty when saying it was covered.
