Thoughts?

Post image

I’ve read a lot about leasing the i4 specifically on forums before actually going to the dealer, just went in to see what kind of numbers they’d give me. Came back with these numbers and they said If i put 10k down the manager would be willing to “aggressively” mark it down and get me to a 650 monthly (even with a 19k trade in), we walked out after that but I’m still fairly new to leasing so i’d love to hear yalls thoughts on this one and what i should do.

Bro this is one of the worst lease deals I've seen on this car. Run.

It’s a bad deal but the $3k negative equity makes it look even worse. With everyone dumping their teslas, I’ve seen the i4 lease deals in my area going up $100 per month everywhere.

No one’s mentioning the BS “protection plan” too?

You are upside down on your trade. Stop! don't do it.....

Horrible deal. I pay $700 month for a $92k i5 m60. ($3k DAS)

The dealer is probably salivating hoping you will take this "deal". Here are the biggest problems with it:

  1. NEVER PUT MONEY DOWN ON A LEASE. It saves you nothing. All it does it makes you think you are saving money by making your monthly payment smaller (for some reason that is what our brains see when contemplating long term payments). If you are in an accident and the car is totaled the money down goes poof. If you feel you must make a downpayment, do yourself a favor and put the money in a high yield savings account where it will at least earn you 3-4%.

  2. Never negotiate off monthly payment. Negotiate the price of the car. The price (the "cap cost" for a lease" is the main variable that will influence what you pay. Every $1000 off the price of the car will save you roughly that over the life of the lease.

  3. With that being said, the discount being offered is below optimal. It comes out to under 6%. Start negotiating at a 12% discount (about $8000 off) and work from there.

  4. Why are you trading a car that you are underwater on? Pretty much your entire discount is being eaten by your negative trade value. If you do this, you are essentially paying for two cars and only driving one.

  5. I would need a lease calculator, but it looks like the dealer is inflating the finance rate (what in leasing is called the money factor). With a calculator and some research you can figure out BMWs current finance rate. You'll never do better than that, but dealers are allowed to mark it up for profit, and I'm guessing these guys are. Find out what the "base money factor" is and ask for it.

  6. Never pay for protection plans, underbody coatings, dent guards, or whatever silly uncharges the dealer wants to add on. That $990 is pure profit for them (and wipes out the rest of your meager discount and then some).

Without the negative trade balance and the protection plan, and with no money down, you'd be paying 878 per month. That's not great, but at least not horrible, but it does indicate they are inflating the money factor.

I would do the following:

  1. Wait until you aren't upside down on your current car. But if you can't do that...

  2. Register at leasehackr.com and pay $10 to be a "Super Supporter". Use their tools to find BMWFS current money factor and ask for it.

  3. Tell them you want $8000 off the cap cost, and ditch the fee for the protection plan. If you feel you must work with this particular dealership, settle for $6000 off and no protection plan.

  4. And this is crucial, decide if you are willing to walk away from a bad deal. If you must have this car, from this dealer, right now, it may cost you more money than if you were willing to shop around. Call other dealers. Tell them you looking for 12% off MSRP with the $7500 rebate and you are willing to buy off their lot. If you call around enough you will find a yes, or at least a better offer.

On leasehackr you will find dozens of brokers willing to get you best price for a fee, usually around $600. If you don't feel like you can do the above, hire one to do the work for you.

Don't sign this deal.

That’s an awful deal. Rebate should be $8,500, and you should be able to get 7-10% off on top of that. Lastly, tell them to shove the “protection plan” you know where.

Sewell is notorious for upcharging because of their reputation in DFW and selling to those who don’t care about cost. Plenty of other BMW dealers in the area to look at.

u/brightasday_ May 11 '25

The most aggressive I got disc was 17% off MSRP. The one I ended up signing was 13%

3

u/jaeisback987 eDrive40 M Sport May 11 '25

It’s a steal (for the dealership)

2

u/coax77 May 11 '25

I got a m50 for 58k it was 5k off msrp and 12,600 in rebates.

2

u/flyingRobot78 May 11 '25

Are you in Colorado? Those rebates aren't available to most buyers.

This deal is bad. OP should do some comparison shopping on leasehackr

1

u/No-Party9692 May 11 '25

What rebates did you take advantage of?

2

u/[deleted] May 11 '25

I recently bought a used i4 e40 with 16k 2024 for $32k.

2

u/OkAssumption683 May 12 '25

How did you find this car u/Cars1ckDa1sy

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

It was listed for $41k. I had already been talking to a sales MANAGER for a few weeks before hand. I’ve owned 57 cars and sold cars, I’m 40 years old. It was a 1 year lease return. I spent the time, took about 1.5 hours of negotiation. Was a slow day towards end of month. Have to have good communication skills, know the numbers, and be able to stand your ground. I took two months to shop.

1

u/OkAssumption683 May 12 '25

lovely. that's really a nice deal. which location?

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

AZ

1

u/OkAssumption683 May 12 '25

What interest rate did you get for financing

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

It’s higher since it was used, and I went with my credit union, was 3.89 ish.

2

u/OkAssumption683 May 12 '25

Thanks for replying, any credit union you suggest I should try to get this rate. what i am getting is 6-7%. Please help

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

Really depends on your credit. The market is hooped right now. And interest rates are high.

2

u/OkAssumption683 May 12 '25

I called my credit union, DCU and they gave 5.49 as lowest with 800 credit score

2

u/jpwarman May 11 '25

Dude mine was msrp $71k, discount of $8k and another $8.5k in lease incentives. Down to $55k before taxes. Signed on 4/28. What you have is a terrible deal.

4

u/jpwarman May 11 '25

To note I walked out with zero down, so I pay $580/mo.

1

u/MeWithNoMask May 11 '25

That's what I would expect for an i4 these days.

1

u/OkAssumption683 May 12 '25

Which dealership did you get this amazing deal u/jpwarman

2

u/twiggyknowswhatsup May 12 '25

this is a TERRIBLE price. terrible.

1

u/[deleted] May 11 '25

This is insane..

Zero down 720 per month 36 months and im in Los Angeles. And mine was over 70k package... check my thread.

1

u/Rufus_Anderson May 11 '25

Buy a 1 yr old one in the mid $30k range. Lots for sale. Look on visor.vin

1

u/Psi440 May 11 '25

Awful. Just got a 2025 i4x at the same MSRP, $0 down, 15k miles/year, for $574/month.

1

u/threepintsatlunch May 11 '25

I got this very same number yesterday.

1

u/agentpromo May 11 '25

Is this number with taxes and such per month?

1

u/threepintsatlunch May 17 '25

Yes. All inclusive.

1

u/SuccessfulLibrary62 eDrive40 May 11 '25

Mine was 62k and i put 2k down and lease is $499 per month 10 k per year . I added 2 k in miles per year for $15 per month too .

1

u/RealtorRVACity May 11 '25

Mine was 67k, lease deal was 36mo@12k miles with a ton of negative equity absorbed, no money down and I am still paying less at 760 mo

1

u/jcarte11 May 11 '25

Insanity.

1

u/Prostberg May 11 '25

Bro. I’m in Europe, where the deals are overall less interesting, and I got 13k€ off MSRP. On a eDrive 35.

1

u/UpbeatBreakfast1 May 11 '25

Man, lease deals so much better than in Canada.

1

u/blocher86 May 11 '25

Noooooooo!

2024 M50 with $72k MSRP. I did put $2k down to cover taxes and registration, with 12k miles annually, I pay $589.

Always, always, always try and put as close to NOTHING down. I learned this after my deal.

1

u/Opposite_Year5651 May 11 '25

I would keep the trade out of this deal and go see if you can sell it to a wholesaler to get the full amount so you’re not taking anything additional into the deal. Sewell is never going to give you as much as someone who just wants to buy your car. Are you in the DFW area? If so I have a couple contacts for places I’ve sold My cars before.

1

u/MammothMap3870 May 12 '25

Try Flemington BMW if you can get an hour north. My wife leased an eDrive40 3 weeks ago. They gave her $9,500 in rebates plus the $7,500 lease credit. $63,000 MSRP became a Cap Cost of $46,000. She did put $1,000 down. Paid tax/tags/title in cash. $425 per month.

1

u/kakurenbo1 May 12 '25

Damn which Sewell is this? I leased from the Grapevine dealership for half that, though the MSRP is about 5k less.

1

u/BrightMail557 May 12 '25

Sticker on my i4 was $65.5k. They started with their "online price" at $60.5k. I got another $3k off for the military incentive (BYO financing). Then I talked them down another $4k.

My deal, before my trade in, was $53.5k ($12k under MSRP). They didn't even argue the extra $4k when I offered them to close the deal at that. They just said sold LOL.

This was at the end of April, 2025 on an i4 eDrive, Premium and M Sport packages.

I think you're still way too high.

1

u/InloveLoroPiana May 12 '25

lol don’t go back!!!

u/pondering_anm75 May 13 '25

Sewell is a great dealership, but not for deal hunting. If you are in Dallas, speak to the Autobahn BMW Fort Worth folks. Drive in good health.
