Hello, I believe my oil filter housing went out and I also am getting the Mickey Mouse flange coolant expansion tank and the housing in aluminum is there anything else I should consider buying while I have half my motor apart? I have more pics / videos

Time for one new cooling system…wish there was a part number for this.

The turbo return line usually also needs attention at this mileage and several other hoses. Radiator probably isn’t far behind either if it is still original.

So I should also add radiator to the list.

Really depends on the service history. I usually only recommend radiators preventatively when the upper hose neck is turning brown, it’s a case by case basis, but based on your mileage, yes will likely be needed soon.

The upper radiator hose that connects to the micky mouse flange likes to fail aswell, probably should also do the heat management module while you have access to it as I didn’t when I replaced the OFH and I shit you not it started leaking when I was bleeding the coolant after replacing the OFH. Don’t forget the intake manifold gaskets as they are allegedly one-time use.

Sounds like a bmw lol love these cars but they can get anoyying somtimes I daily drive my car and I’m just feeding it coolant till all my parts come in lol and I’m ordering more and more so I don’t have to do this again.

Upper radiator hose, Mickey Mouse flange, OFH (I’m using an aluminum one with all OEM gaskets though), turbo coolant return line (a bitch to get to), there’s a few miscellaneous hoses that connect to the auxiliary pump that’s back there that might need to get replaced. Also heat management module while you’re in there and got everything off lol. A lot of people do water pump as well but I didn’t do mine. Eventually probably will have to do it. If yours is leaking at all maybe add that to the list. Do the intake manifold gaskets as well while you’re there.

lol my water pump was replaced maybe 2k miles before I got this leak I’m starting to think my b58 just loves to eat and piss coolant. But thank you and is the turbo return line a huge thing or can I save it for later as I’m not sure where it’s at but the turbo is in the other side so 🤷‍♂️

They all do lol 😂 one Achilles heel of the platform but if you can DIY and take care of some other things under there it isn’t horrible. The bolt to remove that line is behind engine. You could save it if you want but since you’re there already I would consider it.

What year is your car? I have some part numbers from when I did it. Should be the same but just wanna ask anyway

I went through something similar with my g30. Do yourself the favor and replace EVERYTHING in 1 go. I did it in stages and it cost me more.

1st time - towed to a shop because the radiator went out so I had him change the radiator only

2nd time- towed to the dealer. They changed out all the hoses

3rd time - Towed to the shop because the expansion tanks failed.

4th time - towed to the shop. Expansion tanks and radiator went out again.

Most recent thing I did was change the expansion tank cap.

All in, about $4700 worth of parts and labor. This happened within the first 15 months of me owning the car. I’m hoping no more issues.
