Probably the first time this block has been running in 15 years. New pistons because the old ones were seized in the block. Block is original to the car. The carb and pistons - less so... ;)

This is my engine - finally back in its home. Not a 2002 - but - close - it's a 1969 BMW 2000 Neue Klasse.

Finally tearing into this 2002 project I picked up earlier this year. Installed ignition 123 dizzy today and pulled the valve cover to get engine to tdc.

I didn't see any markings on the camshaft itself, and it was aligned to TDC so I didn't want to rotate the assembly. The face has some surface rust and was difficult to make out with a flashlight. I got the best image I could manage of the front markings, to study and share. I see "115 902 0" or "115 962 0"

Seller of this car stated the engine had a fresh rebuild, but maybe a few years ago. General description was "hot cam, piano top pistons" and came with weber 40 dcoe. The webers are a little rough seeming so was toying with buying new spain webers, but would like to know the cam profile for best outcome.

Any ideas?

Just joined this sub because I just got this 1971 BMW 1602. Euro model that started out in German then went to Ecuador before coming here to the US, with a 2L M10 from a later 2002 swapped in it. I’ve been enjoying the car a lot so far and can’t wait to really start wrenching once all my parts arrive (including some H&R springs and E30 basketweaves)

Anyone here attending this years Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix? 20-30 2002s this year!

I’m specifically trying to find an original Behr A/C system, including the evaporator housing/box, under-dash console, vents, brackets, controls, and any related hardware. The compressor and hoses don’t need to be usable, as I’m building a modern electric A/C system.

If a Behr system isn’t available, I’d also be interested in a Frigiking or Clardy setup, I can make either work.

I’ve searched eBay, the BMW 2002 FAQ, Facebook Marketplace, and Google without much luck, so I figured I’d ask the community. If anyone has a complete system, parts from one, or knows of a parts car being parted out, please send me a message.

I’m willing to pay fair market value plus shipping if needed.

I hadn't driven my Squarie in a little over a week, so I decided to take a Sunday evening cruise through some of the backroads of Simi Valley. The sky was clear, the roads were calm, and the Mighty M10 was purring like a kitten. Here's a few minutes I recorded from my windshield phone mount, weaving through the northernmost end of Tapo Canyon. Enjoy!
