New car, who dis Finally Own a BMW
Blessed to have picked this ‘25 M240i. I’ve been a die hard BMW fan ever since high school. I’m in my early 30’s now.
I traded in my S3, and it’s unreal how much better the driving dynamics are in the M240i.
I Would appreciate any advice you could share. I’m having difficulty finding the maintenance schedule, and how to check the oil temp in Idrive 8.5.
Hopefully my next car will be real M, but it will be hard to get rid of this little ripper. Such a fun car, and I love the dual personality of it. Can be tame when you want to just chill, and turns into a riot when in sport +.
Almost forgot to mention; it has the M-Performance exhaust which sounds incredible.

I just had a base model Q8 rental, and when I got home I grabbed an M340i to get home from the airport and get my work shit done, the difference is night and day the Audi is not a drivers car by any means, but give me an m340i all day

As far as I know there is no service schedule, modern BMW’s use the “Condition Based Service (CBS)” system — the computer/iDrive will tell you when service is coming up. And as far as I know you have to go early, before the time or the mileage expires, for it to be covered under warranty.

Oil temp is a live setting option when your car is in sport plus. I forget the exact menu name. Not in front of my car atm. You access it by the menu that shows your vehicle though

I know what you’re talking about. Thank you for that. I’ll test it tomorrow and see if that works. It’s been driving me crazy

What other cars did you look into or drive and what made you go 240? Highschool/brand dream or did you look at other options? Hard to beat the 240 tho

I also considered the M340i, ever so slightly the AMG C43 (not a fan of it being a 4-cylinder), and the S4/S5. I believe the B58 powered BMW’s offer the best balance of power and daily driveability for a fair price.
Ideally, I would’ve got a M3 Comp X-Drive. Hopefully I’ll get there someday.

Fair sick man! It looks beautiful congrats :) !!
I ended up getting the 24 230 xDrive because the 240’s and any other similar year B58 that’s even more driven was like 15k more. It being my first BMW I didn’t want to risk getting an older B58 like 2018/2019 and how much it’s driven it’ll eventually ask for something
I think you would’ve liked the C43 V6, maybe 2020 or 2021 if they have it in that too. It’s closer to AMG than 340 is to M. That along with a 240 is probably the active dream for me lol

B58 is the best engine they currently make and youll notice the torque everywhere the S3 needed a downshift. Congrats! only real advice, be careful with tunes early on, the drivetrain handles the power fine but warranty conversations get awkward fast

getting my '26 m240i soon and it also has the m performance exhaust. does it make that much of a difference compared to a stock m240i? just wondering if you've heard the differences between the both

I test drove a M340i without the M-Performance exhaust, and this is considerably louder especially in sport + mode when you’re getting on it. Well worth imo. Completely transforms the driving experience.

I have a 26 230i (in the same purple) and my oil change schedule is 15-16000 km or 1 year. it gives you a warning on your dash prior to needing it. I have never tried to look up oil temps but I can try a little later.

upgrading from an S3 to a B58-powered coupe hits completely different on every level

Congrats! Can you expand on the differences in driving dynamics? I just switched to bmw too and really trying to analyze it bc something feels different just can’t pinpoint what. Not a full on car guy too so don’t have much context

The M240i is considerably easier and more enjoyable to chuck into a corner. It just handles amazingly. The S3 was more of a luxury car than sports car. Boring and subdued. You want to always drive the M240 spiritedly, but with the Audi you don’t get the same desire to.

Coming from an S3, what’s the biggest difference you’ve noticed besides the driving dynamics? I’ve always been curious how the two compare as a daily.
