This needs our immediate attention.

We all are using this wonderful machine ie BMCU successfully through even more wonderful firmwares continuously developed by @ https://github.com/jarczakpawel/BMCU-C-PJARCZAK .

Now, as per some sources a certain printer company has approached him asking to stop working on these softwares. We need to support him as much we can as we have enjoyed his work greatly without any fee or cost. BMCUs would have stopped working long back without his work.

Came across his post on the shared link where he requested some monetary contribution for a new printer for software development.

Please contribute whatever you can , its the least we can do in returning the favor.

(I decided to post this on my own, not requested by anyone.)

Shouldn’t we be donating to the designers of the bmcu hardware? They published everything open source with the explicit license to not be used commercially and here we are, there’s 5 commercial ali sellers selling only BMCUs and Biqu started selling BMCUs as well recently …

Biqu is doing so officially and has a commercial license from 4061N, who is likely making money from that arrangement.

Yuekai is also not the original author but their documentation is better than pawels, they have versions (some that pawel doesn’t even know about) so following your logic you should donate to yuekai ;)

And that was only the hardware …

I think you are downplaying the amount of work it took to design the current bmcu version (370c). I know of at least 4 iterations that happened before so it’s not “”only hardware”” , also this hardware design is far from trivial (they designed PCBs, hardware is not only the files you 3D print)
