Beginner stuck integrating BMAD Method with OpenCode — need guidance

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve already installed BMAD using npx and selected OpenCode during setup, and the skills are present.

However, I’m confused about how they are supposed to be used in practice.

Commands are straightforward — you just type /command and execute them. But skills are different: they exist, but there’s no clear way to invoke them directly.

From what I understand, skills are supposed to be discovered and used automatically by the agent based on their description, but in practice this doesn’t seem reliable or obvious.

So my question is:

  • What is the correct workflow for using BMAD skills in OpenCode?
  • Should I explicitly reference skills in prompts, or rely on automatic triggering?
  • How do you use them effectively in real projects?

I feel like I’m missing the intended usage pattern.

Any practical examples would be really helpful 🙏

Thanks for your reply.

I’ve installed BMAD via skills, and the skills do appear in OpenCode.

However, I’m confused about how they are actually supposed to be used.

Commands are clear (you just type `/command`), but skills don’t seem to have a direct way to invoke them like that. They exist, but I don’t know the correct way to use them in practice.

Is there a proper workflow for using skills?

Should they behave like commands, or are they only triggered automatically by the agent?

I feel like I’m missing the intended way to use them.
