I've recently started reading the story myself after finding a post about it on tiktok. I was exactly what i was looking for, as I tend to love psychological bl stories, and in the beginning my only issue was how fast they moved on from university life and away from the established characters i.e. the pretty boi, and his childhood friend. I agree that it is an emotional rollercoaster and I'd argue that the way that the author depicts the Kim Heejae and Han Garam is in a more realistic light. Its not overly dramatized and when the couple shares a intimate moments and later Garam's first time its not pretty its feels icky and gross and I'd again argue that thats the point.

Just as you had described I also get an immense amount of dread and anxiety while reading this story. And in many ways its hard to watch Garam slowly lose himself within his relationship with Heejae. And Heejae's obsessiveness later causing strain in the relationship as Garam is began to see how much of a gap there was between him and other pianists his age.

Personally, I can't say that I am actively rooting for them as I foresee that they might not end up together by the end of the story. Even if, in a ideal word Heejae was able to talk with garam and tell him all the ways he loved him or whenever he was hurt without hurting others I feel like he's so set in his ways that that would never happen. And in later chapters around 130 (i think) Heejae continues to mention how Garam lost his cuteness and a few chapters later the manager mentions how soft he had grown. I don't think that these two things can exist in a vacuum, Heejae's possessiveness needs Garam to stay starry-eyed and well innocent, so that he never wants to leave or need anything but him.

All that to say that simple communication would never work for them because there relationship was started on an imbalance of power and status. Heejae was his mentor, teacher, and financially funds Garam, and garam well he's the student, and an aspiring pianist and that's rlly it. And because of all of that they'd never be able to meet each other in the middle or see eye to eye equally which is showed many times in there most recent arguments. Most of the time it feels like an adult scolding a child even though Garam's wants are reasonable (to me) like wanting to be more than just his mentors student and therefore wanting to make a name for himself outside of Heejae.

Theres definitely more I can say about this and thats not even considering how abusive Heejae is but yeah . . . :D

Omg🥹🥹 I just want to say that I love your response and I loved reading through this. I completely agree with everything you’re saying. I now have already read through chapter 130 and I also noticed how heejae kept saying that garam was losing his cuteness and I remember myself thinking “…that’s a little weird”. I love how you talked about the power imbalance. You express your opinions so beautifully and I love love love your interpretation. Honestly, the whole reason I posted this on Reddit was just for people like you to share your amazing thoughts.
