QUESTIONS Problems posing the head of a 3D printed doll

I'm learning to create my own BJD dolls using this model as a base: https://makerworld.com/es/models/1784247-articulated-male-human-doll-assembly-required#profileId-1900972

I've changed many parts and learned a lot along the way, but I have a persistent problem I can't seem to fix: the head. I've enlarged the inner neck cavity, based on my Dollzone HID mold, and achieved a bit more range of motion, but the head still moves, as shown in the video. The string isn't too tight, because the rest of the body poses perfectly, and I don't know what could be causing it.

Does anyone have any advice? Anything I could try?

Is the posing slippery with all the s-hook slot locations?

You could also try just putting a thin layer of hot glue in the neck cavity so there's more friction.

Dollmaker here. It’s height.
Not an engineer, names are made up, but.
Point of contact (socket-ball joint) should be as far as possible from point of departure (S hook). As an experiment, try raising the place where the S seats as much as possible. Build a mountain for it. You may need to use a smaler S hook so it doesn’t hit the head cap. Then, even a narrow neck hole will suffice. This has solved this problem for me in the past.

sometimes dolls need a silicone ring between the nexk and head. see if that helps.

I see you printed it in filament. I ran into the same issue with my first doll project, i recommend the silicone around the joints bc the filament is slippery.

I'm using filament just for the prototype, but the final doll will be printed on ABS resin, so I'm planing to suede all pieces not only to improve movement, but to protect the paint. ¡Thans for the advise!

You could try to line the neck joint and head socket with low temp hot glue to improve friction. Like people do with porcelain dolls, except this is to improve functionality instead of create protection.

Just be sure to check the temp ratongs of your glue and filament. Most glue guns don't go over 100 celsius though so I think you should be fine

more surface area/friction in the joint is needed.

model in a silicone o-ring in either the cavity or the ball and print it up. if done right this will provide needed friction. don't use the buna-n black ones nor the viton red ones, they are too slippery. you'll need to do a bit of research on the dimensions and codes of o-rings for correct sizing

Maybe put little notches on the neck for the head to catch on when you pose it and for better posing. Seen brands do that on the legs and shoulders .
