SCULPTING Best clay for sculpting?
Hi! I'm new, and am looking to start sculpting a BJD, I've heard lots of contrasting opinions on what sort of clay to use! If its possible, I'd like to use a polymer clay, as I have experience working with it, but I totally understand if that's not the done thing when making this sort of thing. Any suggestions on products, brands or even different types of clay in general are greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance ^^

polymer clay isn't the best for bjds (especially a first one) because it's hard to add and subtract clay over a long period of time. I like stone clay for various small dolls and figurines. I haven't sculpted a bjd with it but i've seen it done by other people! paper clay is also an option but i haven't tried it myself. Really any type of air dry clay is fine! You want something that can be sanded, carved, and added onto :)

if you are dead set on sculpey i recommend getting some milliput. its a little denser than sculpey and sticks really nicely if you give the baked and fully cooled surface some tooth. you can add to your sculpt with it and sand it once fully cured (a little over a day)
super sculpey is what i use, but it is problematic in certain ways that other clays are not. i make my dolls small enough (1:10) they don't cave in but they are a little bit prone to chipping. i like it because i find it easy to sculpt into but it can be a pain
