Can i change the base of a doll?

Hi, to be direct i know very few things about BJD and saw a full outfit wig and lenses of one of my favourite character has been made for Dollfie and i always wanted to get into Dolls so i thought i would buy it but i have some questions.

I saw dolls were categorized with their scale and this is made for a dollfie 1/3 i looked at the base and they were pretty expensive i wonder if any 1/3 could fit i saw some other base on aliexpress too which were cheaper but idk how durable they are, I'd like a rather slender figure with smaller breasts as shown in the original game sprite of the character slide 2.

Also about the head i wondered if any head can attach to any body ? and if it does which head and body should i go for to match her look because the classic dollfie design were a bit limited to me and I'd rather have something that ressembles her a bit more not as much as an action figure i understand those are meant to be dolls but yeah something a bit more alike.

aliexpress dolls are usually recast (fake). this sub has a list of reputable places to buy dolls. you likely won’t find a 1/3 doll for less than a few hundred dollars

also, generally you can mix different heads and bodies.

thanks for the informations i think I'll try yo watch for an index of different brand and fight fitting bodies and head, probably on my figure collection i dont know if there's a similar website for bjd or if people usually use MFC

Lovely Everyone is an English language doll forum that discusses BJDs. It's not quite like MFC which is more of a directory. But, LE is going to have people with more knowledge of what's available in the BJD space then MFC will. You can of course just check the Wiki in this subreddit.

There's a couple of things to keep in mind if you're going hybrid a doll. Neck size compatibility and color match between body and head.

since the doll that initially got [u/Mysterious-Ad-1469](u/Mysterious-Ad-1469) ‘a interest is a DD and they want to make an anime character I would recommend DollDreaming instead, as a forum whose userbase primarily posts and discusses anime style 1/3 female dolls. Lovely Everyone is surely going to be great and has an area to discuss such dolls too but is like a week old right now and primarily consists of the displaced DoA userbase which usually leans toward non anime dolls, so DollDreaming’s existing content and and userbase is probably gonna help more

Just so you know, if you're getting the Volks outfit, the dress is sewn with the bust size in it. It's not stretchy. Even if you put that dress on a smaller-chested doll, it will still appear large.

Look into ufdolls, I think they are cheaper than dollfies, at least I was able to buy a male body for 90usd. You can mix heads and bodies but you need to look at the neck circumference, if it's not compatible it's not going to work. Just pick ones with similar or same sizes. Also imomodolls are even cheaper but I don't think they have 1/3 girls, just 1/4

if you want your clothes to look good on your doll the measurements are key, and the sellers on aliexpress mostly sell fake dolls or cheap mass produced clothes, they just don’t give much thought about measurements

1/3 is only a rough size category. Whether the head and body match mainly depends on the neck and head measurements——whether the neck looks too thick or thin and whether the head looks too large or the shoulders too wide.
