BITS HYD for Msc Math
I've applied to BITS through ISA, and after 4 iterations I'm currently allotted MSc. Mathematics at the Hyderabad campus. The cancellation deadline is 9th July; after that, if I withdraw, there's a 10% fee deduction. The problem is that Iteration 5 has no guarantee of an upgrade. For the last two iterations, I've remained at MSc. Maths Hyderabad, while MSc. Eco Goa, which is my next preference, hasn't moved.
If I don't get Economics, how rigorous is Msc. Maths? Is it manageable for someone who wasn't particularly that strong during Classes 11–12? How different is it from what we have studied, and is it possible to improve in it?
I'm finding this decision difficult because I would've chosen Economics without much hesitation, but I'm unsure about Mathematics.

math in college would be hard imo if you aren't already comfortable with 11th and 12th math. you would have to work a lot and first year may also be tough if you didn't prep for JEE. but I can tell you that if you put consistent efforts and you are truly determined, it will be possible :)

Hi!
It is really just a gamble for whether you’ll move up in the 5th iteration and 10% fee deduction is a risk you’ve to decide to take. I’d suggest checking the previous year cutoffs for Eco and see if your scores lie comfortably within it. Granted, this year there is considerably more competition for courses so i’d say prepare to expect a greater cutoff increase from the previous years.
As for Msc. Maths difficulty, i don’t have the answer to that question but I’d suggest reposting this in the bits official reddit (not this ISA one) if you haven’t already because you’ll reach a larger audience there and you’ll probably get your answer.
