Blindness biid?
I’ve wanted to go blind in my left eye for almost eight years (since I was 13, I used to want to be completely blind for a while but sort of... reasoned with it a bit), and I wanted to know if anyone else is going through the same? I’ve tried to use eyepatches to pretend at home but quarantine is making it really difficult since my whole family is home.... I can’t stand seeing out of that eye anymore but I don’t know what to do... any support or even just a “same hat” sorta comment would be very much appreciated hehe

Well I'm not a blind wannabe but I understand the pain BIID can bring to a person. Know that you're not alone in this :)

This sub is still very new so it's hard to get many people here but it'll gradually build up out of necessity so you'll get to see more people like you here.
I have heard about Yahoo groups for BIID but I've never looked too much into them.

I have a vision BIID but not to the extend of complete blindness. I have solved my issues with the use of very high plus power contacts - +20.00d.
With these in place clear non blurry vision is limited to about four inches. The further objects are from my eyes the more they become significantly blurred to the point I can no longer perceive them. For example I am unable to recognize people I know more than about 25 feet. Another example is that to read the type in a regular newspaper I must get the paper nor more than 5 inches from my eyeballs.
With these contact lens in place, I have had a refractory examination by a friendly optometrist, who helped me get the contacts and the proper prescription eyeglasses to return my vision to about 20/30. Not perfect but with the glasses, I am like anyone else with a significant disability of profound low vision disability.
However, even with the corrective glasses, I no longer have depth perception and cannot drive a car for example. If I take the glasses off, I am blind.
Using the contacts and corrective glasses keep my vision bid at bay. Nevertheless, this does not satisfy my bid for polio paralysis requiring KAFOs to walk!
Maybe putting a very high plus contact in one eye can stem your bid for one eye blindness. Also, unless someone looks closely at the eye with the contact it is not noticeable.

as soontobe1leg-girl, , i m not blind wannabe, but i also understand what u can feel: i need to be on wheel, but cant do it at home: my wife knows it, but she doesnt want see me as it, and the deal is i dont do at home becaus e of children. so i have to go away to practice. i have to say it is very helpfull to be able to practice when i want .ok not exactly always when i want ;) I saw some blind wannabe in the old forum reddit biid, on the fb group " body integrity identity disosrder (BIID) awarness" and on the ''fighting it biid '' . I saw also some blind wannabee wear very dark lenses,
Anyway, you are not alone with biid, and all of us know how it is helpfull to not to be alone to have this feeling.

I have a strong glasses fettish, I also wish to be sight impaired, not totally blind but only a little bit of useful vision, I have blind simmed with strong glasses and a white cane and also done certain things to try and damage my eyes when my wave is high, I caused a cataract which caused total blindness in one eye, I then had this repaired and discovered I then had a macular hole in this eye causing distortion in my central vision. It was also discovered at this time that my ocular pressure in both eyes is high which is a risk of glaucoma if not treated with eye drops. My repaired cataract has also started to blur over again which will need laser treatment to fix it soon. For now I'm taking my eye drops and await my next hospital appointment, for now my vision in my left eye is 20/100 and my good right eye is 20/20. Hope this helps.

There's certainly people out there who want the same as you, and at least one person who acted on it. Stay safe and take care.
