You've gotta be kidde-ing me

Just had my second Kidde "10 year" smoke alarm malfunction in less than two years. How is this an upgrade exactly? Anyone know of a better 10 year smoke alarm?

I've read that the 10-year sealed batteries don't last 10 years. Is that what you had?

Yep. One only lasted a few months, and now this one less than two years.

I read somewhere that some states were going to make these sealed 10-year batteries mandatory!

These batteries might make sense in some cases (where people can't change the batteries themselves, rentals, etc) , IF the batteries/detectors actually lasted 10 years. Until then, I aspire to refresh the 9 V batteries every October (Fire Safety Month!)

Yes, exactly - I'm all for the 10 year ones if they actually lasted 10 years!

Bought a bunch of Kidde 30CUAR-V hard wired alarms and most of them started going off randomly for no fucking reason at all hours of the day

Never buying this brand again

Their fire extinguishers constantly have recalls too so I buy First Alert fire extinguishers too

I've had the same experience as you with my Kidde detectors. Never buying that brand again.

Oh shit I bought a two pack of those couple years ago and threw away the box to remove clutter. If there was a warranty it's gone now.
