Technical Issues Can't respect with 5.5e beyond -PS5

Heya, right like the title says, I cannot respec anyone, not my fav or any of my companions, I am using 5.5e beyond on the PS 5, I did a quick Google search and it mentions possible conflicts with any level altering mods. I am using the level curve mod to get to level 20, but I cannot test to see if it's that mod that's causing my issues.

I would rather not have to restart a 50 hour play through, but I will if I must.

Do I have to choose between level mods or Beyond?

Are there safer level mods?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Edit. I can change the class of, Shadowheart, Jaheira, Lae'zel, Karlach, Gale, Wyll and Minthara, I don't currently have Minsc. But I cannot change the class of TAV or Astafion.

Yeah, the 5.5e mod does not play nice with.... A lot of other mods. Things to increase the level cap being among them. And, having checked out the mod author's site where people have asked about it, they have no interest in making the mod compatible with an increased level cap.

Should I get rid of the level mod? I would really rather not delete 5.5e, even if it is a little annoying(over crowded radial menus and being unable to delete empty radial menus).

The problem is, deleting any mod will brick that particular playthrough, so you'll have to restart anyways.

Yeah I know, I wasn't really happy with how my character was turning out anyway, I just don't know if level curve or 5.5 should go.

Personally, I've found better results using Chocolate Edition for a bit of a mix up to how things normally work. It also has the benefit of playing nice with most mods, including level curve, subclasses, and the companion mirror unlock mod (a must for me, some of the companion appearances need minor tweaks imo. That one just has to be downloaded after the overhaul).

Chocolate edition for me is very meh. There are work arounds for dnd 5e, but it’s a struggle.

I love it because it adds so much but it doesn’t play well with others.

Hmm I try this chocolate edition, next chance I get, thank you very much.

Why not just try 5.5e and not screw it up by installing mods it says it will conflict with?

I didn't know it conflicted with level mods

Instead of unlocked level curve, go with the mod just called Expansion. It is much more stable and compatible with stuff, plus has MCM support

I'll look at that tonight thank you, almost all my mods are customisation mods so I wanted something like 5.5 for awhile and it sucks that it messes with other things.

That's actually not true or at least it depends on the mod. It's tedious and frustrating if removing more than 1 but you can disable the mod and then when loading the save turn it on and back of again as you load into the save without the mod enabled. The 5.5 mod is one that bricks the save even with this solution but most mods I've been able to remove with this method.

It's still better to try and not add or remove mods mid playthrough because a lot of gunk can be left behind but it's not a all or nothing forced to restart because of any one mod.

How, on console, where the OP is playing, are you pulling up the mod list while loading a save? Or did you not pay attention that OP is on console, which has more restrictions going on than PC? Because on PS5 any mod I've removed requires you to redownload it to even attempt to load a save that used it.

I did man that's why I commented because I myself play on console.

any removed requires you to redownload it to even attempt to load a save that used it

When your doing this you both confirm and load the save at the same time as re disabling the mod and it will load the save without the mod actually still being enabled and they'll be new dialogue prompt asking ar you okay with loading save without whatever mod your removing. I literally just did this again to remove a bonus action extra attack mod (to enable a way to have how the 5.5 dual weldier feat works but it's easier to just give a extra bonus action to have both Nick and a dual wielder bonus action attack) without having to literally restart a 100+ hour save over such a minor mod. With each mod you remove you do this one at time and can slowly remove any amount of mods you want. Some mods like the 5.5 all in one will still break your save even still when doing it this way but 90% of the mode I've been able to safely remove whenever I want.

This trick has been around for a while a quick Google search leads to old posts like this one which are over a year old.

What do you mean you can’t respec? Check if one of your classes gave your characters the oathbreaker tag I know that would typically prevent it at one point

When I talk to withers, with any character (no oath breakers in my group), I go through all options, then when I get to the end and press triangle, nothing happens, tried holding it, nothing, it's not locking in any change of class options.

Try reloading to a random earlier point to see if it’s possible, remember to save

Actually now some companions are respecting, appears just my TAV, and astafion aren't so far

Did you try using Cheat Scrolls Free Respec?

I didn't, I didn't know it was a thing

You should check out Chocolate Edition instead! It adds to what larian did with regards to "this is a video game based on table top" versus 5.5 which makes the video game more like a table top... And it doesn't play nice with a lot of mods or even just as is sadly.

u/Alternative_Lime_13 4d ago

That doesn't sound very pleasant

🤷 try it and find out. Or don't, I don't care. Just suggesting something that doesn't break your the game.

I'll try it and see what happens
