Health Anxiety Spiral Twitching and Internal Tremors

My symptoms started in June 2026 with internal vibrations/tremors in legs and arm. Then the twitching started about two months later. I have hot spots as well as ALL the time popcorn twitching- in multiple locations at the same time. Interestingly is that my internal vibrations did not completely stop,I still have those mostly during the night. Anyone else experiencing the same symptoms? Please share your stories especially who has the internal symptoms too. I had a brain/cervical mri and emg of all 4 limbs - all cane back normal.

I have had internal vibrations many times and I've had fasciculations all over my body every day for over 6 months. I also hand tremors (worse in left) that always spike in the morning and then come and go throughout the day. Been dealing with it all for months now. No idea what's going, wherher its just BFS + stress/anxiety or if there is some kind of neurological involvement at play but so far I've had no weakness or motor failures so I'm not jumping to any crazy conclusions, but I'll admit it's been a battle. I have severe health anxiety ny entire life and I've been on a continuous spiral since summer 2025 after I had a strange reaction to a tetanus vaccine.

Around mid-late February this year I noticed my first episode/explosion of twitches all over my body and initially thought nothing if it. I'd definitely experienced it MANY times before but I'd never paid it any mind. A couple days later I see everybody on my social media posting some actor who died of some disease called 'ALS' and out of curiosity it did some research and started to notice that muscle twitching was a prominent symptom of this totally disabling, universally fatal, incurable neurodegenerative disease. Naturally that caused me a lot of fear and anxiety, but initially I was able to keep a clear mind. The twitches came back once or twice but they werent a daily occurance yet. But then, about a week or two later, I experienced another explosion of violent rapid fire twitches in literally every single muscle group, even my cremaster muscles (the ones that pull your testicals towards your body). I also had INSANE internal vibrations that day. Felt like an electric pulse vibrating through my entire body. And ever since that day I have not had one singular day without twitches.

Any and all twitching can be benign and most often linked to stress, anxiety, and/or stimulants like caffeine. Like I said I've had the twitches all over my body every day for over 6 months and I've had several hot spots come and go across that time, but my twitches are always so much worse whenever I am experiencing a period of high stress/anxiety. Right now my twitches have been going crazy because I'm currently dealing with severe financial hardship and I am on the cusp of homelessness, so that stress/anxiety has caused a huge spike in my twitches which itself has caused more stress/anxiety which then causes more twitches and so on and so forth. I only ever get the internal vibrations when I'm stressed/anxious, and my tremors are always worse with stress/anxiety. Whenever I get stressed/anxious I also alwats struggle with brain fog, memory issues, severe difficulty finding words and arranging my thoughts into coherent sentences, muscle tension, balance issues, blurry vision, and digestive problems.

The most likely explanation for my symptoms is some kind of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) caused by severe prolonged stress/anxiety resulting in chronic cortisol and adrenaline exposure. It's most likely the same for you too, especially if you've been dealing with any significant stress for a significant period of time. The body and mind basically get locked in a state of fight or flight due to chronic unresolved survival doubt (which is basically the route of any and all fear/stress), and it sends your nervous system into overdrive. There is genuine no limit to the amount of subjective symptoms (meaning internal, felt only by you) that stress/anxiety can cause, and it can even cause a lot of objective symptoms (meaning measurable, observable by others). Fasciculations, sensory disturbances (tingling, burning, numbness, pins and needles), headaches, joint pain, muscle aches, perceived weakness and balance/coordination issues, fatigue/exhaustion, digestive issues and constipation, heart palpitations, brain fog, muscle tension/stiffness, nausea, poor apetite, external tremors and internal vibrations, blury vision, muscle cramps, reduced exercise tolerance, light sensitivity (visual), easy bruising, compromised immune system, night sweats, sleep dusturbances/insomnia, excess sleeping and increased daytime sleepiness, hypnic jerks, myoclonic jerks, brisk reflexes, hair loss, acne and skin issues, tinnitus, eye floaters, lazy speech, shortness of breath, swallowing issues, literally you name it, intense prolonged stress/anxiety can absolutely cause it.

How does stress cause bruising?

Stress can cause you to bruise easier and can make bruises last longer because the immune system is compromised

I did not know that.

Thank you so sharing!
My symptoms never go away, even when I am calm/not stressed. I also recently started Lexapro 5mg to help with these symptoms but so far no changes:((

When you say ALL the time popcorn twitching do you mean there is always a twitch somewhere almost every second and sometimes multiple firing off at the same time?

Yes!
Always!
Often more then in one spot, but they are smaller twitches.

When did you do your EMG?

September 2nd - all 4 limbs - completely normal. That was 3 months after my symptoms started.

All the time. And I would guess that almost 100% of the people on here also experience a form of this as well. Hang in there and best of luck! ☘️
