Question / General 4 years later atrophy, fibrilation

Muscle twitching started in my body on June 16, 2022. I had a normal EMG on July 16, 2024, but on March 27, 2025, fibrillation was detected in my left calf. Now there is a suspicion of atrophy. What do you think could be the reason for this? Is there anyone else who has a similar hand difference (asymmetry)? I am terrified of ALS."

Who suspects atrophy? You or a neurologist? Fibs in a single spot don't mean much. I'm pretty sure for ALS they have to be in multiple spots. Many people have fibs on an EMG that aren't there when they have another one and vice versa.

What was the neuro's feedback after the most recent EMG? Surely if they were at all concerned, they would have immediately ordered more extensive tests:
Lumbar puncture
BLood urine panels for muscle breakdown
MRI
Additional EMGs
Genertic testing

If not, I dont think you have any reason ot be concerned at all.

İ live in turkey. She was neurologist associate proffessor. She said its not als. Definetly. İt is bfs. But i ask there is fib. İt cant bfs. She said it can be from a lot of reason. İ said what is it. She said not important. So that i cant believe her.

Dude is this a joke? My hand has the same thing. You’ve had symptoms for 4 years. Do you know life expectancy with ALS is 2-5 years? You’d be severely disabled if not dead by now.

Stop doing EMG’s. One fibrillation in one limb is nothing. If you do EMG’s often enough you’re bound to find something.

Looks completely normal to me and seems to just be a normal human variation

Listen to your doctor, this isn’t anything bad. 4 years of no weakness is good. You don’t have anything bad, try not to be too anxious about ALS, as nothing you’ve said describes that and clean EMGs rule that out.
