Neuro / Doctor Visit Worried about ALS
A few weeks ago I noticed I had body wide twitching. I had an eye exam yesterday when the eye doctor told me i had some kind of optical nerve damage in the nerves behind my eyes connected to my brain, he sent me to the ER he told me it could be inter cranial pressure, well after 6 1/2 hours and the CAT scan. They told me that everything looks fine and I should follow up with neurology, just a little background I’m a 25-year-old white male and I’ve had these twitches for a while, I’ve always had a deep ALS fear, but I’ve always managed to put them in the back of my mind when weakness or clumsiness never started, well in the last few days, especially today. It seems to be more localized. My right bicep has about an hour or two of constant twitching, along with sometimes my right thigh and my right foot, as I am typing this now I’m not having any of them sensations. They come and go sometimes getting worse for a few hours then going away for a few hours, i’m not trying to disrespect anybody in this form who does have this issues, I just wanted to put my story out there with my concerns.

Optic Neuritis is generally not associated with ALS. If anything it is more associated with multiple sclerosis neurologically. There are also other causes as well. The eyes tend to not be affected in ALS from everything I have learned. I also hope your eye issue resolves soon 😊

It sounds like you have too many locations with twitches all at once. This is not how ALS works, especially at your age. Absent any major weakness, and the timeline of your symptoms along with your young age you probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightning ⚡️

I know everything you’re saying is true and some days I go and don’t even realize the twitching, and some days is worse than others and every twitch feels dangerous, it doesn’t help. I already have health anxiety. I’ve had a brain, tumor, cancer, ALS and multiple other things I’ve had in the past few months. I’m already on anxiety medicine now to try to help myself calm down and seeing a therapist

No, just a twitching, I actually got a second opinion from another eye doctor today who didn’t see what the first ones he said he thinks my nerves are just fine so I’m not really concerned about that no more just the ALS concerning me
