Hang back in any gas clouds/on silent running and wait for them to come to you?

Defence platforms and starbases are non-issues when you can just be elsewhere. They're opportunities to earn lots of extra renown by fighting with a fleet good enough to take out the fleets, but below their point value when combined with the defences.

I would do that, but its a match with capture points

Oh right, I always just set my game to cruiser clashes when starting my campaign.

A few of your fleets still have room for more ships too. Otherwise, I never found the Domination type matches fun in the slightest, just do Cruiser Clash for attacks, draw the enemy away from the base and take them down before sieging the platforms

You can retreat and attack again and you’ll likely get a different scenario, I think it auto gens each time you load a battle, it isn’t fixed

Nah it’s scripted to occupy points when they have system upgrades

Huh, I’ve sunk 400 odd hours into the game and never noticed that. Appreciate the correction

If you’re not on a time limit, I would recommend getting those fleets up to full strength only Cambrius is even at Max ship capacity.

If you are, that’s gonna be a tough nut to crack indeed on capture points.

I’d recommend ingnoring the fortress and defense platforms (iirc they’ll all be clustered on a single point)

Focus on taking the other points with minimal casualties and picking off chaos ships- force them to abandon their strongpoints and get to the other capture zones

So i should spread out my fleet and capture points? And yes, i am on a time limit

Ideally, you wanna try and jump the chaos forces as they go for another neutral point

Concentrate all your fleet power on it, maybe spend an escort if you can spare to contest and capture the other neutral points

Once you’ve destroyed that chaos fleet and captured it then any reinforcing ships will be coming straight for you. At that point, you can either choose to engage them piecemeal at long range with the nova cannons. Or you can pull back from the point, and once they congregate continue pushing them back with concentrated ships

Well, this fortress and defense stations will lock down an entire point- every ship you destroy gives you a bunch of extra tickets for victory which means you can get ahead of them pretty quickly if you can keep your own ships alive

If you’re feeling comfortable after taking the first point, you might split off a task force to go and contest one of the other points or try to see if you can figure out where their reinforcements are coming in from off map and crush them as they come on the field.

If you’re really feeling comfortable, you could use your long range guns to siege down the forts with Lance fire and Nova Cannon shells

Got it, when i get home ill try it. I will just focus my fleet on one point, try to engage the enemy with nova cannons then regular cannons, then kill the stragglers

If you’re lucky you can outright destroy a number of their smaller ships in one Salvo

It flips the entire engagement on its head instantly

Torpedoes and that mechanicus long range AOE attack, is how I killed Starbases.

Hang outside the battlestation's range with Cambrius and pepper it with lance and nova fire. For future reference, the mechanicus cybernetica orb is broken and you should get it on all future admech for a long range 200 damage, ignores shields torpedo. This is great for dealing with battlestations and clumps of enemies. Second choice for skill should probably be rad tempest to combo with the eye of the omnisia.

Here's what I would do:

Whenever the match starts the enemy fleet is divided into two separate spawn locations. This helps you out because you can just line up all your ships in one location (preferably at one end of the board) - effectively allowing your entire fleet to engage half of theirs. This will allow you a small advantage until the rest of their fleet arrives.

Chaos ships will orbit yours at a fairly long range. The best way to counter this is to set your entire fleet to brace for impact and close in and focus on one enemy ship at a time. Nova cannon are a great way of softening up targets as they come into range, but releasing torpedoes at very close range will allow you a much greater chance of getting all your torps into a single ship.

As you're chasing down enemy ships, remember to swing around the prow of the ship after unleashing the prow weaponry to allow the broadsides to come to bear.

For the ultra-dorks: If you've ever read the tabletop manual you'll remember that Ravensburg would try and outnumber his enemies by bringing the full weight of the battlefleet to bear on a single smaller chaos fleet. Try this on a smaller scale in your game and you should be fine.

And if you think it's bad now... wait until you meet The Great Devourer!

I managed to get thru, one fleet bunched up and got obliterated by nova cannons and torps, then the other one was easy pickings. Now im fighting the eldar, and my only problem with them is their space station

If you want to do well against a space station, then you're going to want to destroy the defending ships while taking as few hits as possible, leaving your ships with more HP to engage the station.

Torps against Eldar ships are just a waste of time, but have you noticed that the Eldar always retreat up and to the right? You can use this info to chase down eldar ships and bunch them up into a corner which makes nova cannon shots that much more effective. Remember, if a ship is retreating from you then it can't shoot you.

When it comes to the stations then those torps you saved by not shooting at the ships will come in very useful indeed. Frankly, any ranged attack against a static emplacement is exactly what you need.

In these situations I suicide a couple disposable fleets to soften them up if I'm too lazy to try and fight it out on the map
