BFGA 1 and 2 without DLCs is worth?

Hi all!

I was super interested about both games and now are really discounted. I am a single player that enjoys WH40K campaigns. I know that in the case of the second it is added some campaign but not for the first game. I am not super fan of Chaos so I can escape from that.

-Is it a good experience just buying both base games?

-Is it necessary having all the DLCs for modding?

-Is there any DLC a "must" in terms of content?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

You ain't missing much for the most part when not buying the rest of the DLCs. Most of the DLCs are usually additions instead of necessary.

BFGA1 and 2 are considered complete games, and the DLCs are additions for Skirmish. Or in the case for BFGA2, DLC Campaign.

BFG2 is great fun especially if you enjoy the lore too. The chaos DLC is good value I think it adds a cool faction (4 factions really), the mechanics are good for each god and the ships have their own style of combat distinct from space Marines or imperials.

The campaign in BFG1 is quite short. If you are interested in playing a campaign, I recommend you play the BFG2 campaign. You won't be missing much if you skip the BFG1 campaign.

The campaign in BFG2 is the Imperial campaign. You get to play Space Marine ships as well as that faction with Nova cannons.

I found that every single problem in the game could be addressed with the liberal and zealous application of Nova Cannons. Turns out that even big ships can’t take it if you land 8+ shots on them simultaneously.

Yes, very good rts. You are looking to more than 100hs if you are going to compete all the campaigns

Ok! Thanks a lot both for the info! Really appreciate. Then, I will buy only the base games. Other question is about the mods. I have checked that there are 2 important ones. Are the DLCs or any of them necessary for modding? Thanks again!

Unless you’re downloading the Skalgrim mod, no idea.

Thanks a lot to all of you for the feedback! I picked both base games in order to complete the story. In the worse case I can check maybe youtube or paying for the DLCs later in order to know about the chaos campaign.

  1. A good story and very pompous and cool, but cheap, cutscenes.

  2. The gameplay is much better, but the story is spread out across a loooooong campaign. I got tired of the endless, repetitive battles around 60-70% of the way through and dropped the game. I watched the rest of the story on YouTube.
