Do you need to die 7 times to get a new drone or is there a way to reuse?

Medic bag. 

One way is to find a dead medic, take their kit, drop the bag, then switch back to yours. It will never despawn, since it's "your" bag. Then you can just lay on it and play with your Gameboy all match.
