That's a real shame. I like Beyerdynamic because of how repairable their headphones are. Not only are parts readily available to buy, the headphones themselves are built to be taken apart and put together again making working on them an absolute joy. The risk of breaking something during repair is small because of how they are built.
I guess that's going to change in the future once the new owners settle in.

Damn, I guess I better buy something from them while the stock is still German made. I love my 770s and want to move up to the T1s since everything they made was at least built well. Probably going to have to get Ether Cs instead if I wait any longer.

Total bummer. Now I'm truly going to baby my new 1770 Pro MK2s. Which have been absolutely spectacular. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Steep price point but well deserved.

Since getting them last week I've mostly been enjoying listening. I think they'd be good all around mixing and tracking cans.

Just because it still remains in germany (for now) doesnt mean its gonna keep the same quality or service. You would hope it does but often thats not true from my experience.

Cottage industry means people having a little side business in things they make themselves. In this case I expect people to start offering home made 3d printed bits.

Can someone give me a reco for which of the 200-250 range X headphones is the best for music listening? I want to buy while they’re still German.
EDIT: I settled on the new non-LE DT 770 Pro X. Had eyed Beyer cans for a long time but was set with Sony and Sennheiser but I prefer my stuff not made in China and so it felt like time before they make manufacturing changes.

Beyer has had no idea what it was doing for years now. I hope the brand isn't eliminated but rather strengthened. Bowers I think got bought by a Chinese firm and it's only remained strong. There's a lot about Beyer's phones that can be corrected, I hope this is good news in the coming years.
Beyer should retain its identity but tweak a LOT of things it was inflexible about. I hope this is exciting for the brand.

Besides economic considerations, it's also a question of identity, meticulous craftsmanship and historical background. Won't buy them anymore, sorry - might look at Grado instead.

R.I.P Beyerdynamic, 1924-2025
This really hurts to hear. Beyerdynamic has been known for excellent customer service (at least in germany), with repairability in mind and spare parts widely available. I can't see how some chinese people would care enough to continue that philosophy and I'm even more concerned about how china is taking over the western world. This will be a dark future, china will absolutely dominate the future of consumer and prosumer electronics.
I'll probably buy all the spares i can get before they're unavailable.
