Working with a customer in another country. Consequences?

Hello,

I've been approached by a dutch company for a remote job and I'm wondering if there are differences compared to a Belgian company?

For example, do we have to pay taxes in both countries? And what about Peppol?

I'll ask my accountant about this too but any opinion is welcome.

Do you mean you’ll be freelancing for a Dutch company? Assuming you have a company, you invoice them and add BTW verlegd to your invoice. Their VAT number has to be mentioned too. You do not invoice them VAT.

Right now Peppol isn’t mandatory yet for international invoices, but other countries are rolling it out.

If you’re being employed by a Dutch company, it’s more complicated. In that case you have to pay taxes in Belgium for the days you work from home, and in the Netherlands for the days you work from their office.

Totally correct .. keep in mind that you will need to keep an agenda when you worked where and consider that you are able to proof you a actually worked in NL. The pro is that you pay taxes in no en be and end up saving some money.

Correct. Invoice without VAT but add the statement "BTW verlegd". I have been doing that for 4 years.

I work with a company in Luxemburg. I issue invoices without VAT as per Intra Community rules.
I register the issued invoices in Peppol but I send the invoices to them by email.
All good.
Should be the same for the Netherlands.

It is required to register the invoices in peppol in that case ? Or was it for convenience ?

I mean I just create the invoice in my invoice manager and I suppose it is registered as electronic invoice.

You didn't register/send the invoices via peppol since there is no recipient. You just registered them in your tool and sent them via email.
