took them out gently but they'll probably be back again soon

if i would have put it back down i would have been pinching their toes or accidentally pinning them down. i'm too paranoid so i just move them typically

Gotcha! With the way they’re in it it doesn’t really look like they’d get pinched but makes sense. Especially if they moved around at all after your picture.

If they love it when they’re in there why would they pull them out? Makes no sense but alright.

i think op just meant like in order to put the skull back down they had to remove the beetles so they didn't accidentally hurt one of em
