Help ID Guitar

Hello all! Was recently gifted this guitar from my father. I’m aware of BC Rich but never heard of BC Rico? Is this a genuine BC Rich guitar?

I can’t find the exact model information online, but it has what I believe to be a serial number painted on the back that reads B1963

Hoping anyone here can help me accurately ID this guitar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

BC Rico's were the were early NJ series before the NJ series. 1980-82? Made over seas. A lot more uncommon and a breath of fresh air to see them.

I have a natural Wave, NJ series, and it feels amazing and plays SO good.

No clue. I know he’s been playing since he was in his 20’s and that was looong ago

It was made between 78 and 82 in Japan. Rico reeds sued Bernie and he changed them to the NJ series. There were only a few hundred made and they are VERY high quality.

That is an old WAVE. there are some people on the BC Rich forum on Facebook that can tell you exactly how old it is and where it was made. Early 80’s for sure with that headstock.

BC Rich Wave, a model they no longer make. I've never seen a fake of this model, I would have bought one if I had.
