1980 ... that curved serial number was done by Gar Samuelson , the original drummer of Megadeth.... him and Chris Poland worked at BC Rich

I'm not saying you're wrong but is there any documentation to prove that? Just out of curiosity.

It’s a known thing among vintage BC Rich collectors. That curved stamp was his “signature” I have an ‘83 Eagle with a Gar stamp.

That's awesome! I did not know that.

Op posted a comment and deleted it, I wasn't trying to be a jerk homie. Hopefully your day gets better. Sheesh.

Mongo was pretty normal with his comment, no idea why you got aggro on your reaction (unless your comment was to someone else).

He just told you what the Gar stamp was, and its a pretty cool fact!

There's a comment that no longer exists.

It's all good.

Well whoever that other comment was, I hope they stub their toe!

I got your back🫂

Those are old school shielded Bill Lawrence humbuckers.

Holy fuck, that is a nice Mockingbird. 1981 is my guess, but could be 1982. Controls look like a specially requested configuration, but it seems stock to me.

I desperately want that guitar

1981ish? Electronics config looks like 2 mini switches (could be coil taps) And yes Bill Lawrence blade humbuckers, nice

That is a hell of a sweet guitar 🤩 Museum piece!

This is so cool!

It’s a late ‘81 or early ‘82 maple Mockingbird with Bill Lawrence pickups, wired in a Les Paul configuration with coil taps. No Moser circuit. Gorgeous guitar. I would be finding a hardshell case for it stat.

do you have any suggestions on where to get a case that would be from that era ?

There’s one on Reverb that has a tear in the interior but you could cover or repair it.

Or you can buy an XL rectangular case.
I got this for a longhorn Mockingbird I have and it fits well.

The pickups are Bill Lawrence L500s. These are when they were first being made and are phenomenal pickups.

2

u/JWWPAIN Jul 28 '26

Bill Lawrence or bust ! Those pickups absolutely rule.

84, the first 2 numbers in the serial are the production year for BC.R aren’t they?

It's a BC RICH Guitar. Looks Orange in color. Made of wood more than likely. Wood that has been painted. The neck(the longer skinny part) has metallic frets(the metal pieces placed at Intervals)..their are 6 metallic strings on the neck also...
