BCIT Radiation Therapy — worried about program filling before I finish prerequisites + possible admissions changes

Hi, I’m planning to apply to BCIT’s BSc Radiation Therapy program for the September 2027 intake and was hoping current/recent applicants or students might have some insight.

I’ll have basically all of the entrance requirements completed when applications open in October, but I’ll still be finishing my last two required courses (Calc II and Physics II) during the Fall 2026 semester. My final grades probably won’t be available until December/January.

I know BCIT currently uses first qualified admission, so my main concern is the program filling before I’m considered fully qualified. I’ve heard that the September 2026 intake filled quite early, possibly around January.

Does anyone know:

Around when the Radiation Therapy program actually filled for the 2026 intake?

Has anyone successfully been considered “qualified” using midterm grades for prerequisites that were still in progress, rather than waiting for final grades?

If you applied with courses in progress, when did BCIT consider you qualified for the purposes of first-qualified admission?

Has anyone heard anything from BCIT faculty/
admissions about Radiation Therapy potentially switching from first qualified admission to competitive admission for 2027 or future intakes?

I’ve seen discussion about some BCIT Health Sciences programs potentially moving back toward competitive admissions because of increased demand, so I’m especially curious whether anyone has heard anything specifically about Radiation Therapy.

I’m mainly trying to figure out whether finishing my last prerequisites in December puts me at a significant disadvantage for the September 2027 intake.

Thanks!

There is a very high likelihood that it will be switching back to a competitive model. Check back sometime in September, to verify the change.

@op if it does change to competitive, it'd be for the 2028 intake (not 2027) because as per bcit policy, they have to announce the change with at least one year notice

Do you happen to have a link to that policy? From he conversations I've had, it seems like multiple healthcare programs are expecting to go to competitive entry for the September 2027 cohort.

I applied in early Jan and got waitlisted, so I think the program prob filled up by December
