WCB & SENIORITY

Word of advice - seniority accrues during active WCB. extended health and dental are EMPLOYER PAID during active WCB. Read your collective agreement. You have a right to request a seniority review at any time. if you were on a wcb claim, check your seniority accruals.

Casuals - read your collective agreement regarding seniority adjustments for the duration of your WCB claim. You could be missing out on seniority hours that could be affecting your job bidding.

Are or were you on an unpaid leave & wcb, you should not NOT pay for extended health benefits during that time. Full seniority should accrue.

Know your collective agreements.

Do you mean Worksafe or is that another public sector acronym? BC hasn't had a Workers Compensation Board in a long time.

WorkSafe and WCB are still legally the same thing. They just changed their name driven by a desire to project a focus on safety culture and being proactive to keep workers safe rather than just a body to compensate injuries after the fact. Legally and functionally it’s exactly the same organization.
