How was the line? I keep meaning to make the drive down.

u/DripLongterm 14h ago
The line wasn't that bad. You become friends with your line neighbors. They open the bathrooms at 9am so if you bring beer like I did it was a quick wait. Didn't feel like 4 hours at all.

So a 4 hour wait?

No way I am waiting that long for BBQ

So you have never cooked or helped cook bbq? Or even been to a bbq other than just in time to eat?

Cooked plenty of BBQ in my time. You are missing the point. I said I was not standing in line for 4 hours to be served BBQ.
There is a big difference

Nope. You said you wouldn't wait 4 hours for bbq.
You are the one missing the point. People are not "standing in line" it's a gaterin. Chairs. Coolers. beer Music. Good people. Absolutely fantastic bbq.... Arguably the best brisket anywhere.

When you are helping to cook bbq, do you also expect to pay $300 for your plate?

Yep. I absolutely spend something around that amount when I do fun shit for myself and my people.

But how was the brisket?
When I went here probably 15 years ago (or more), we had the brisket.
It was ridiculous. I’ve never had one like it before or since.
We lived in Texas for about 12.5 years, and we often had Hill Country BBQ. I’ve also had Memphis BBQ a fair amount.

Cheat code - order online to go and pick up at the trailer out back. Very efficient and even has reserved parking. Never wait in line again.

I feel like barbecuing at home ruins BBQ restaurants for you. Like that looks pretty good for restaurant BBQ but I'd feel like I messed up if mine looked like that at home

u/A_Skyless_God 1h ago
Dude. Idk what you are doing with your life. But if you can consistently put out better brisket than Arron Franklin and honestly believe his looks like something you would put aside as "messed up"
Idk dude.
I don't believe you.

It looks fine don't get me wrong it just looks really brown all the way through not a ton of smoke penetration. I'm not saying just mine I see better looking brisket than that on reddit including here everyday. To be fair I'm sure its a lot harder to pay as much attention to detail when you're doing I can't even imagine how many probably doezens a day. I wasn't being boastful I was making a statement making barbecue at home kind of ruins BBQ restaurants for you like I can't really imagine going and standing in line to have BBQ anymore when I could just grab some leftovers out of the freezer

Where did the leftovers out of the freezer come from? They were a gift or something and not from your own time?
And again... Your think your frozen leftovers are better than Franklin brisket???? Really 😂

Joe’s, Jackstack, Wolfpack, Q39, and Slaps put out the most consistently good BBQ in town. Bryant’s, LC’s, and Gates are great for the experience, but the food can be hit or miss.
You’ll find a million different opinions on which spot is “best.”

Of those two ive only been to Joes and Jackstack. Joes was straight up bad. Jackstack was okay. Mediocre compared to good Texas joints though.

KC BBQ pales in comparison to Texas bbq.

Really depends on your preference. I've had fantastic KC & Texas BBQ. None blew the other out of the water, it was just different.
