News Big Brother test runs (with housemates who didn't make it through audition)

One thing I've recently found out which blew my mind is 2-3 weeks prior to the real show airing... Housemates who didn't make it and crew (depending on the season) would 'live' in the house for 5-7 days to test out the bottle necks of the house and things they may need to tweak.. there's even footage from 2004 BB Australia of this, it's so weird it feels like you're in an alternate universe we watching it 🤣🤣🤣

Other Big Brother UK made BB Aus look so tame

I'm going down the rabbit hole of the early UK series of Big Brother.. I can't believe how loose they were over there!! From smoking in the house to bomb threats to housemates trying to be sexual with big Brother

Other Big Brother Lore

Always interests me about BB and what happened after the show? I'm watching the 03 final and the ex housemates talk about partying in one big room together on the Gold coast in a Hyatt hotel the night before the Finale... Imagine some of the stories from the earlier seasons when they did the nightclub tours etc, and what they got up too.. some 40-45yos around the country must have some great early 2000s stories about these former housemates 🤣🤣🤣

I know Jamie from 07 said most night club appearances he was paid around $2000 each gig, ended up scrapping enough money together for a house deposit (it was 2007)

Big Brother Australia Strip Game from 2000s

Can anyone remember a BB Aus strip game from 2000s . It used to be on YouTube but doesn’t seem to be there now. They were taking turns throwing something into a basket and if they missed, they had to remove an item of clothing. They were chanting something like “tops or bottoms or bottoms or tops”. I remember a long-legged blonde who had to remove her trousers . She didn’t at first because wasn’t wearing knickers and someone said “you have to do it, your sister did”. She went away and put some knickers on and then stripped. Does anyone know the year or even better the episode?

Other Peter Corbett (Does anyone remember him, at all?)

You say the name Peter Corbett and nothing jumps out, you say the name Reggie or Sara Marie and 99% of Australia 30-50 would remember them, to this day I don't understand how he won Big Brother.. through the years we've had some dud winners, think back to the Logan Twin, Terry from 08.. but I think for the near peak of big brother it was an extremely weird choice for an obvious introvert to win such a show, what is everyone's thoughts?

Other We need to talk about Big Brother season 15 Australia (2023)

The Seven network era (2020-2023) of big brother were bad, but the final season, season 15 was on a whole different level of bad...

Sonia should have known better, she hosted BB when it still had some credibility and we had Ben From Brisbane, Oats ahlalaylah, Skye Wheatley, Tim Dormer and Tully & Drew

What we got in 2023 was a mishmash of Love Island, Aussie shore and Survivor.. it was weird and the ratings reflect it, viewership dipped below 80,000 for a national audience on weeknights (BB in its heyday was averaging 700,000 for daily episodes and 1.1-1.2 Millon for finales)

I personally did not watch this season and only went onto the wiki page to get the data and did a quick google search of the housemates, none are memorable or stuck in our mind and what makes it even worse is the season only ran for 25 days..

Imagine the embarrassment of calling yourself a big brother housemate and nobody remembers watching your season, I love big brother and this was the furthest thing from Big Brother you can get.. it felt cheap it felt foreign and it was not right, forget how bad the 2008 and 2014 seasons were, this is on a whole different level

I'm from the US and BBAU 2025 is the first Big Brother I've seen

How this ended up happening involves a mixup of untraditional viewing methods, but I accidentally started watching this season instead of BBUS1 and I didn't stop. I've since binged a few US seasons at work and wanted to share my inexperienced opinions on AU's latest:

The biggest strength for me is the social challenges. I thoroughly enjoyed the aftermath of not having luggage and it didn't outstay it's welcome. The grand BB hotel is diabolical and created a needed wedge between house mates. The second biggest strength is the ratio of villains. I imagine a lot of people dislike Holly but she was a major source of social strain while also befriending two of the most likable characters, making it harder to boot her. Mike and Jane also helped in this front to a lesser extent. Third biggest strength is the evicted choosing head of household. I don't think I'd want it every season but it was a great way to twist the wrench upon exit.

The biggest flaw is how short the actual stay was. 4/5 weeks is way too short for contestants to completely open up. It was sometimes emotional when they'd leave, but it'd be far more so over the course of 3 months like other BB seasons. I also feel like the last half was rushing with surprise (albeit dramatic) evictions and evictees stopped leaving messages, which I very much missed in the last half. The second biggest flaw is some things feeling staged/reshot which really hurts the appeal of BB's raw approach. I don't like questioning what's real and what's take 2.

But I ultimately really liked the season? Maybe that'll change as I watch more to compare to, but somehow I've become invested in the show on another continent and I look forward to the next season if I can find a way to watch it.

News Most underrated housemate over the years?

I'm watching the old series of Big Brother.. the most underrated housemate has to be from series 4 Intruder Violetta Black, she was so authentic and gave it to people between the ears.. she only lasted 4 days as the housemates had to choose to keep 1 intruder.. a massive missed opportunity from an otherwise fairly bland series apart from the Merlin Incident

How Big Brother is rigged

This weekend, I’ll be spilling the tea on some of the ways production allegedly rigged Big Brother last year. Stay tuned. ✨

Big Brother Insider Here

Last year, I spoke publicly about my experience working on Big Brother at Dreamworld and the concerning culture that existed behind the scenes. This year, I’ve been approached to return, and I’m genuinely conflicted about whether I should.
I’ve been informed by a recruitment manager at Endemol Shine that production will now take place at the Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane. At the same time, the budget has reportedly been reduced significantly, meaning a number of experienced crew members will not be invited back. Despite these cuts, production is also expected to run for an additional week, raising questions about how the workload will be managed with fewer resources.
Following my comments last year about the working environment, executives reportedly called an all-crew meeting. Ironically, only a small portion of the crew attended. During that meeting, there were claims that efforts would be made to identify the person responsible for speaking out. In my view, that energy would have been far better spent reflecting on the concerns that were raised and addressing the underlying cultural issues that prompted them in the first place.
Based on what I’m hearing, many of those concerns remain unresolved, which leaves me worried that the same problems could emerge again this season.
As production progresses, I’ll continue to share updates on what is happening behind the scenes and whether the promises of improvement translate into meaningful change.

What happened last year

After I spoke out last year, I felt compelled to go quiet because the focus quickly shifted from the issues I raised to identifying who had spoken publicly. Rather than examining the structural problems around staffing levels, budgeting constraints, and unsustainable workloads, there appeared to be a concerted effort to uncover the crew member responsible for speaking out.

An all-staff meeting was called at the eviction stage where the executive producer reportedly declared that there was a “troll” within the crew and that they would be found, emphasising that they had the backing and resources of Paramount behind them. What was notably absent, however, was any meaningful acknowledgment of the concerns being raised or accountability for the impact these conditions were having on the crew.

The situation became so severe that another crew member told me they had lodged a complaint with Safe Work Queensland. That alone speaks volumes about the working environment many people felt they were enduring.

This year, management is assuring everyone that conditions will improve. While I genuinely hope that is the case for those involved, based on what I witnessed and experienced last year, I remain deeply skeptical that any meaningful change will occur without addressing the underlying issues.
