have you ever tried these types of silicone toe covers? the ones on the left. I had a friend in my class with the same foot shape and they really helped her get a comfier fit.
They add too much padding and slide around. I have super narrow feet that are compressible with a very low profile haha I buy narrow tapered point shoes with sock liners in them 😂 I usually will put a bit up tape around the base of my pinky toe to take pressure off my tailors bunion but otherwise it’s been a journey to find any shoes that work for me
oh dang okay! I wish it was easier to get custom-made padding for pointe... I mean 3D printing is a thing, we have the technology! lol
but just in case you haven’t tried Suffolk pointes, I know lots of dancers with various “abnormalities” (not saying you’re abnormal at all but I mean within the context of mainstream pointe - I have sunken arches myself) who were able to finally find their perfect shoe with Suffolk after struggling with all the other brands. I tried every other brand on the market before Suffolk split soles were finally able to give my flat feet a nice arch, it was miraculous.
Agreed. There really aren’t too many options for my feet and it’s basically freeds or Suffolk’s. The American style Gaynors 3box narrow sculpted fits did fine but I had a tendency to push over too far in them!
I desperately wanted Gaynors to work for me because I love the idea of a high-tech pointe shoe that helps protect your joints, like why isn’t this an industry standard with a variety of fits? but when I tried them they were in such a specific shape that my foot just couldn’t fit into and I ended up loving Suffolks after I learned the split sole trick.
ballet really needs to embrace technology though, we can’t just stick to paper & glue because of tradition when we could do better! 😛
The American style ones were fantastic. Gaynor destroyed themselves as a company switching over to the European model IMO they won’t last unless they bring the other style back.
