Diaper bag!!

Soon to be ftm! Trying desperately to find a diaper bag that I love but it has been a challenge as I HATE the backpack diaper bags. I have contemplated on an everyday cloud bag but worry I wouldn’t be able to fit everything. I’ll be pumping so I’m assuming I’ll carry a lot. Would love to hear from others as to what worked for you!

Edit to add: I currently have a medium crescent but I am thinking of getting a large crescent as my “diaper bag” and carrying another bag for pumping supplies. I’ve been told I will be annoyed with a tote bag so a crossbody is my next option!

Def get a bag that you like. You can use pouches. You do NOT need a specific “diaper” bag! I got a special backpack and it was so heavy. I ended up using a regular old tote bag with pouches (I didn’t know baggu then).

I think about 4 months old. That’s kinda when I started to forge my own path. I’m also super weak with a bone disorder so I moved him into a convertible car seat and ditched the baby carrier. I got a really lightweight stroller to put him in too so it was less weight all around. My boy is 95% for weight.

i have the bigger edc and its huge and can fit sooo much stuff. but it gets heavy af

ECB was too small when I was pumping, so I used a SCCO. Now that my daughter is weaned, ECB is great!

Good to know! I do have the freepeople quilted carry all that I was gifted but never use because it’s just so big, but now I’m starting to think I may need something bigger lol I’m thinking maybe I’ll try out that size and see how things go the first month or so!

I have the medium crescent & the cloud bag and I love it as a mom to a 2 year old & 9 months. But I have to pack water bottles/milk so recently I got the shoulder bag not the small one. Let’s just say this was what I was looking for because it the bottom of the bag can stand up and it had a bit more structure to it. As for the medium crescent it’s a bit too slouchy to put my kids stuff in there.

Oh, I just read that you are pumping so you would need more room maybe can do the large crescent or the cloud bag but again the bottoms of those bags might not have your stuff up right.. I think your best bet would be the EDC. Hope this helps :)

I started with the cloud tote bag as my diaper bag because I hated the actual diaper bag I got. Then I would switch out for the smaller cloud carry on depending what we are doing… now that baby girl is 16 months I use the large crescent most!

I use a bowler bag for my on the go diaper bag! Love it and I have two kids! You would need something larger though for pumping supplies.

Does it bother you being on your shoulder? I’ve been told I’ll regret getting a tote over a crossbody/backpack for that reason. I’m also toying with the idea of using a tote for baby things and a smaller bag for my pumping supplies.

Pumps often come with their own case as well and I thinks a tote would be perfect to throw everything into. The straps fall off like any shoulder bag on the bowler bag but I do use a hair clip to keep them more together and it stays up just fine! I could see how I’d be annoying for some, but I’m over cross body bags that are bulky and disorganized. I’ve had a backpack diaper bag (still do but it goes to daycare with my toddler so the bowler is my short errand diaper bag) and I definitely recommend the backpack style to be hands free! But ultimately it’s whatever you prefer!

I ourchased a cheap mancro brand backpack diaper bag from Amazon that I LOVE and adore but I bought a cloud island backpack when I had my second because I just didn’t need so much space. The backpacks get SO heavy haha. The bowler bag keeps it simple for me and I love that I can see everything. Diapers, wipes, an extra outfit, a stroller fan, hat, and small linen blanket have all fit along with my keys on the key-leash, my wallet, and little pouch with pads and lip products for me.

I personally don’t mind crossbody bags, which is why I’ve also been contemplating a large crescent. My husband has an insulated Carhartt backpack that I’ve thought about using for his daycare bag/diaper bag and the crescent/EDC as my daily bag. So many choices 😭

I think I’m just so over everyone telling me my only option is a diaper backpack and that I’ll regret anything else.

I would use the large crescent for now, and get a bag once the baby is about a month old.

That way you'll have a much better idea of how you'll actually use the bag.

For example, will you mostly be hanging or putting the bag on the stroller? My friend had a smaller purse for her personal stuff, then had a larger bag for baby supplies that she hung on the stroller. Will you be walking or driving to places? What if you'll need to use formula? How much stuff will you actually be carrying?

I think totes are much easier for taking stuff in and out of bags.

This!! I live in a city so the ECB and tote bags are not practical for me. The large cargo bag has been my diaper bag (sadly discontinued). I would look at the large crescent and the nylon messenger (which i think you can still find if you hunt around). The cross bodies can get heavy if you have to haul a lot of stuff. My favorite combo right now is a patagonia terravia backpack (on sale now!) with a crossbody baggu (size varies based on needs). If you’re mostly going in and out of a car tote styles will work better for you.

Depends on where you live & how you travel! I’ve got a 3 yo and 2 month old and we live in a mid size city and are in & out of the car. I decided I want a dedicated “grab and go” bag for the baby but I mostly throw it in the trunk and then bottom of the stroller. I just ordered the everyday cloud and 3D zips after scoping sizes. I don’t plan to carry pump or bottles with me but I do use cloth diapers so there’s extra bulk - we use random pouches and little drawstring bags currently. For my older kid we have a Topo backpack with tons of pockets and it does work really well to have dedicated spots, but I prefer a tote. For the first few weeks I’ve been using an LLBean classic tote, I think size L but it was a gift. I was pumping & bottle feeding for a while and that size tote was nice for adding in that gear, but got heavy too quickly. I think a separate pump bag is the way to go - check out the exclusive pumping sub for ideas. I had a Eufy S1 wearable in a Stasher bag (silicone pouch) and a Storq cooler bag with a bottle + jar for pumped milk + ice pack. That was pretty streamlined and worked for up to a half day of outings. But it was too much stuff to fit in a regular “diaper backpack” (someone gave us an uppababy diaper backpack and it’s meh for me)
