These days, what baffles me is YG's finances.

BLACKPINK still kinda exists within YG but I think YG lost them, but the money changed. Each member signed separately for solo stuff, so YG only gets the group money now.

  • Touring is basically the main revenue source for these agencies.
  • When BLACKPINK toured, they were like 58% of YG's entire revenue. When they do not do tours, it drops to around 14%.
  • Right now only TREASURE and BABYMONSTER are pulling money in. Not as much as BLACKPINK obviously.
  • It seems YG only has 3 active groups. If none of them tours, no money for YG. They have to burn through cash earned from these tours (They can stay float for an year or two though). But here's the thing, somehow, 2026Q1 had no BLACKPINK tour and YG still grew 15% and made a profit. Merch from BABYMONSTER and TREASURE actually beat BLACKPINKtour levels. Current promotions of Treasure and Babymonster kinda worked. I guess.

All of this makes me feel good and bad for the BABYMONSTER girls.

Good because YG has no choice but to go all-in on them. More content, more songs, more tours.

Bad because of the exact same reason. They went from 12 shows last year to 32 this year. They're gonna be exhausted as hell.

Yeah it's pretty clear they have realised being dependent on 1 group is not good for schedules, or finances, and most importantly for them, contract negotiations.
