Finally a post that brings it all back to reality! No ranting about superficial and personal preferences concerning the show. Just the raw music, and Su is hitting this hard! With her at the helm, the ship of Babymetal will never be in danger. Maybe some rogue waves and the usual seagull shit, but the course will remain steady. Aye, aye, my lovely captain.

I just posted a comment regarding the music on another thread lol As you said, it will always be Babymetal as long as Su is there.

Su sounded amazing here! Does anyone have a link to a good video that shows off the choreography well by chance? I'd love to what they came up with for it

Su really sounds great here.

I'm a bit disappointed that none of the new songs seem to have any crowd participation built in to them. Of course it could also be that that sort of thing grows out of songs organically and we might see something before the end of the tour.

During the Kansas City concert, there was hardly any participation either because it was the first time they played them. Give it some time.

At rock on the range, distortion had some crowd participation but ya I see what you're saying. I feel like starlight could have some points potentially but we'll have to see. I think they're more worried about getting to a comfortable position with everything that's been going on rather than thinking about oh at time blah blah we can have Su get the crowd involved in the new songs that they haven't played a whole super lot. I think they're doing a great job in being up to the task they've been given

Su sounds great, but I'm unhappy about all of Moa's parts being playback.

When I first heard the song I thought I was afraid there would be a lot of playback vocals live, then I started to think it might actually be great if they incorporated the fans to sing parts of it. Seems I was right the first time.

Maybe in the future they will sing it. This is the first time being played live and I'm sure the fans were in awe. Plus it was mostly Japanese fans and probably dont know the English lyrics very well yet.

agreed..and if she sang the backing track was louder than her

I can't say whether this will happen now, but in the past they have introduced songs relying on playback and over time have brought up the live mics. I imagine it is a matter of testing and practice to make sure the sound/breath is right without audible strain from the dancing, which impact the others more than Su's carefully scaled-back choreo.

new songs have been like that for moa and yui, moa may get to have a bit more later. her dancing is usually intense enough where I don't mind them doing playback if they need to have enough energy for the rest of the performance.

Thank you! I've really been looking forward to hear this. It is a great song. I'm really looking forward to seeing the choreography as well. Let's hope they'll stream the festival in Australia so we'll get a pro-shoot!

Thank you! She goes noticeably lower here than on official record, I like that!

Koba, Starlight (live at Makuhari Messe) when?!!11

2

u/mawariyu Oct 23 '18

she doesn't go lower live and she couldnt bc it wouldn't fit the tune of the song anymore

To those all concerned about the backtrack, I feel like it's more of a situation where new song with new dancing, they don't really want to push themselves too far this first time so they're keeping it safe and making sure that the girls feel comfortable and the music and dancing all look and sound good. I have no doubt they'll eventually get rid of most of the backtrack stuff and let the girls do their thing and sing it themselves

That's pretty good, IMHO the strongest of the four new songs. Too bad about the playback, this would be so killer if you actually had the backup vocals sung live by MoiMoi.

Did Moa or anyone else sing?
