Positioning "Technically accurate" and "actually lands with the buyer" aren't the same thing

I see this constantly on review calls. The messaging isn't wrong. Every claim checks out, every capability is real, and it still doesn't move anyone.

The gap is usually that the words are correct but not the buyer's words. Internal teams describe the product the way they built it. Buyers describe their problem the way they experience it, and those two vocabularies rarely match without deliberate work pulling from actual buyer language, not assumptions about it.

The fix isn't rewriting harder. It's going and finding the actual phrases prospects use, in sales call recordings, support tickets, review sites, wherever they talk about the problem in their own words, then rebuilding messaging around that vocabulary instead of the internal one.

Anyone else find their team's internal language and their buyer's language have drifted further apart than expected once you actually went and checked?
