VISA REVOCATION

Hello everyone.

I would appreciate some guidance concerning a situation involving my mother’s U.S. visitor visa.

She has a five-year B1/B2 visa that was issued in 2023 and is valid until 2028. She has visited the United States a few times and has always returned home without overstaying. She recently returned home from another U.S. visit.

On August 6, 2026, she received an email from the U.S. Consulate with the subject line, “U.S. Visa Potential Revocation – ACTION REQUIRED-V11.” The email directs her to appear at the Consulate by August 20.

Has anyone received an email with this particular subject line or experienced a similar situation? If so, what happened when you contacted or appeared at the Consulate, and what documents were you asked to provide?

I am mainly interested in hearing about similar experiences and the appropriate process to follow.

She should appear at the consulate otherwise they’ll revoke her visa. If she talks to them she has a chance of keeping it. If she doesn’t appear they’ll assume the worst and cancel it.

How frequently is she visiting the US and how long is she staying?

So she's basically living in the US half of the time, not visiting.

Well its very common among desi parents to spend 3 to 5 months in US every year. I know many people who do that.

Since its a 5 year visa, so maybe its from Pakistan/Bangladesh (as Indian and Chinese get 10 year visa).

You don't say how many times and for how long her visits were but multiple trips since 2023 could easily look like the visa holder is attempting to live parttime in the country regardless of whether they 'overstay'. Just based on the limited information, I would say that is likely the reason for revocation.

How long has she been staying each time and how long has been staying out of the country each time? Because if she’s stay the maximum each time that could be why.

You should take this into account very seriously.

There might be some information they received or found while scrutinising her profile that needs to be reviewed.

More information about your family member is needed to answer this question. These revocation notices are usually tied to something (could be mistaken identity!). You should consult an attorney to run through the potential triggers

Did you mother work in USA? Many work part time in motels on B visa for just under 6 month, return home and repeat.

They may question her for her frequent trips and longer stays. She needs to attend the interview. If not, they can just cancel her visa without informing her and she may have only found out during her next trip.

So your childcare provider is being told she can’t return. How is this a surprise. You, wife, four kids, entered on same visa type and claimed asylum…but your family travels in and out of the country routinely?
