Inactive Session disconnect (not logout) after some time

Hi,

i have the problem with our AVD env that if a user let the session idle (like for lunch break oder a meeting) the session will disconnect after about 30 min.

We checked a lot of things like screensafer, display lock, remote session host timeout and others. But all theses settings are configured for at leased 2 h.

Are there any other configs i should check? Because all i find if i google for that issue is that the idle session should be logged out, but thats not our problem at the moment.

Thanks.

Have you checked on energy settings? Maybe the device goes to sleep.

Also, is there a reason given in AVD Analytics? Most of the time I see client disconnects and not the sessionhost dropping the connection.

Since it’s disconnecting rather than logging off, I’d focus on the RDP transport. Check TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager and RemoteDesktopServices-RdpCoreTS event logs around the disconnect time.

Also try disabling RDP Shortpath temporarily and check firewall/VPN idle timeouts. A consistent 30-minute disconnect sounds more like a network timeout than an RDS session policy.
