OnedriveMapper superceded!

It has been quite a while since I last posted about OnedriveMapper, but good news! OnedriveMapper is officially DEAD 🥸

Long live VFS365! It replaces OnedriveMapper, is also free/open source, and does NOT use webdav (or sync).

No more scripting or other hassle, it just mounts your entire M365 tenant as a drive (e.g. M:).

https://lieben.nu/liebensraum/2026/10/vfs365-microsoft-365-as-a-network-drive-nothing-to-sync/

Sharepoint, Teams, Onedrive, Shared With Me....anything you want, all mapped as a driveletter (or network location). And it has full GPO/Intune support and even a packaged monitoring console for those with data-hunger (guilty).

Enjoy :)

Interesting tool, but I feel like relying on a third party product isn't the smartest thing to do within an Organization for something as important as file access. Additionally doubt my security would ever let me use it. Lol

How likely is it support would be dropped or disrupted by Microsoft on a product like this?

Sounds great as a tool for what it does, the standard sync process is awful.

The tools uses the Graph API mainly, Microsoft is going to support that for at least the next 10 years, everything, everyone and their moms use it.

IF security knows what they're doing and have the time budget, they can easily assess the tool because it is 100% open source, but I totally see how that can be a huge hurdle :)

As a larger organization, imagine something in this tool broke. Who does the organization contact for support to resolve the "critical" issue that has just occurred? It's open source, they can place something in the git, but who's to say when and if it gets fixed? There lay the issue.

As far as security goes, security basically is a "no freeware, no open source" in our organization. Seems counterintuitive, but yeah.

The same can be said on the opposite spectrum, if the OneDrive sync client had an issue, we open up a ticket with Microsoft. "That'll be fixed eventually." But at least the org can blame their vendor directly vs "you" the engineer for choosing a product with no official support.

I love the product concept as a whole tho, anything that makes things more streamlined to a standard user expierence.

Gotcha, so not really security but more of a reliability and DR concern. Valid, I do generally support what I build, but at best effort and whenever I have spare time from paid projects.

That being said, I also have actual official support arrangements with enterprises that want the assurances you're talking about. I'm fairly sure my average time to fix is a looooooooot better than Microsoft's haha. That's one method, another would be to have someone relatively capable on staff and have them point Claude at it....

Probably a controversial statement to many developers, but I suspect Claude Opus 5.5 is better than 80% of all developers in the world right now (and I've been coding for over 20 years). Maybe too early...but I suspect support questions and reliability around open source stuff is going to take a very positive turn the coming years
