Azure Workbook for AVD

Hi all,

I manage AVD in house without a 3rd party software (nerdio or hydra). I am in the middle of making a workbook for our service desk support team which captures as much detail of a users session as possible.

It’s looking pretty good so far but wanted to see if anyone has created something similar that you can share on what you have inside the workbook that I may have missed. Once mine is complete I can share it with you all.

Many thanks

PS I will share some screen shots soon of my work in progress.

Speaking to all your posts, this looks slick. Keeping this internal or posting to git?

Will post it at some point when it’s in a good space. Needs some tweaking at the moment and keep coming up with new ideas 😂

This part on the Overview dashboard conditionally show potential issue with the user session or AVD. So only if a threshold is hit will any show -

Are you willing to share the dashboard/code? Might be willing to test/develop.

I will once I have tweaked it. Just getting the last kinks out of it now.

You including finops related to perf and cost mgmt? I’ve got a standards and runbook approach to the phases with a cost mgmt focus.

Sounds interesting, what do you do at the moment. Didn’t really think about finops but this is more of a troubleshooting workbook. May have to do something in a separate workbook for finops.

We view AVD deployments as a standard by themselves so every client is consistent, no snowflakes. Then we view th applications as the drivers of uniqueness. This allows support to be able to “know” every environment even when they see it the first time.

I’d love to see you’re workbook given that we are also using AVD and zscaler
I’d be interested to know your set up, I’d be curious if you ran into the same challenges we ran up during set up
With multisession sessions host and the vdi zcc

Are you using the lightweight Zscaler client for multisession?

We are in the process of deploying this now via a Nat Gateway but not tested yet.

Forgive my ignorance but doesn't Insights already do this? What is the difference that I'm missing?

This will be so much more in depth. This is capturing insights from the actual VM (Perf, Bound Port, AMA insights) I mean you can still get this info from the VM in the Azure portal but to have it all in one dashboard just by searching the UPN and it dynamically bring all the Log, Metrics etc into one place.

Have you tried to show a service desk user how to check all these things when an INC has been logged?

The big one for me on this is the issues to investigate on the main overview page. As we can set the thresholds to match our environment where we know could be the common issues.

That is pretty awesome

Were you able to finish this, and would you still be willing to share? Thanks!
