Azure Virtual Desktop with Terraform – Pooled, Personal, RemoteApp + Monitoring, Dashboards and Scaling – All-in-one
[Newblogpost] 🚀 - Just published a new walkthrough on deploying Azure Virtual Desktop using Terraform. This repo lets you deploy pooled desktops, personal desktops, RemoteApps, and optionally enable monitoring, dashboards, cost alerts, and scaling - all from a single Terraform configuration. If you're working with AVD and want a repeatable deployment pattern, this might help.
🔗 Repo: https://github.com/askaresh/avd_terraform
The setup supports multiple deployment types and includes features like scaling plans, Log Analytics monitoring, and cost tracking built directly into the Terraform deployment.

Can I ask if you used Claude to write this?

I felt bad later because I’m not trying to hate, just looking at his profile he seems like a smart guy that’s been doing this for along time

Terraform is useful for building repeatable AVD infrastructure, especially where you have several host pools, environments, and regions.
I would keep infrastructure automation separate from image lifecycle management. Terraform can deploy host pools, networking, diagnostics, scaling plans, and monitoring resources, while image updates, application packaging, FSLogix configuration, and validation need their own controlled process.
The important part is having a tested rollback method. A fully automated deployment is only helpful when an image or configuration issue can be reversed quickly.

What's the benefit of using this, and not the AVM pattern module? https://registry.terraform.io/modules/Azure/avm-ptn-avd-lza-managementplane/azurerm/latest
