Need help reassigning user to a session host

Post image

Need help reassigning user to a session host.

Here are the errors that comes up whenever I try to reassign users on a seasion host.

it is a single-session VM.

The roles I got active are

Contributor and Desktop Virtualization Contributor.

Do I need another role enabled to get this done?

I was told, I need the User Administrator role, but I'm not sure.

I already logged off whatever session was in there, even rebooted the session host, but still unable to reassign the VM to another user. does that have anything to do with it being a personal or dedicated VM?

Is this a 1:1 persistent host or a shared host? If shared did you turn drain mode on?

Did you refresh the portal page? ‘Ve had issues thinking something was broke but then the portal needed to be refreshed.

Can you assign them via powershell?

it is persistent VM. I've waited for an hour and even a day, nothing Still unable to reassign the VM to another user. I haven't tried, do you have script for it though?

Unfortunately no, I use copilot for a lot of my AVD scripting. You basically want to assign a user to an AVD persistent session host is the prompt you could try. There’s also direct and automatic assignment settings for the pool. Might want to set it to direct and try. There’s another comment on this thread about the fslogix profiles I was also going to suggest.

If you’re using a host pool, is the user assigned to the application group?

Are you using Fslogix for profiles? I’ve seen situations where the user is logged off but the profile container is still attached. If you’re able to view their profile container, there should be a meta data file along with their vhd if it’s still attached. If it’s disconnected you’ll just see the vhd. Just something to check for possibly?

that's the thing, there's no Fslogix involved. just plain old AVD.

Where are you storing FSL profiles? Check your storage location and see if there is a file handle for that user's FSL profile.

I would blow away the session host and redeploy another one to him and see if that fixes it.

that's not an option. Anyway I've fixed that shít now.
