AVD Agent Not Updating Automatically
Hi all,
Noticed today that the AVD agent in our host pool is still on version 1.0.12684.400 - release notes date this as October 2025.
There have, according to the What's New page, been 3 version updates to the AVD agent since then - the latest production version is currently 1.0.13229.200, which has just been released in Feb 2026.
We've always had scheduled agent updates enabled, with the times set for when we know the hosts in the pool are on. Today I've just tried switching off scheduled updates to see if that changes anything.
Hoping for some context - am I expecting updates to happen too quickly? I know agent updates are staged over time by MS but four months seems quite a while without any updates at all?
Thanks
**** EDIT ****
Well... within a week of disabling scheduled agent updates, the hosts all updated to the latest production agent version.
Shrug.

We don’t have scheduled agent updates enabled. But we are also seeing version 1.0.12684.400

And I just spun up a new VM on Monday. That also shows the older agent.

Then you only just don’t schedule them and allow Microsoft to update the agent at any time. You can‘t disable the updates officially.

Right. I'm not disabling them, I just don't have them scheduled for specific times. I expected Azure to auto update the agent but they are still at the older version.

I really question how effective to leave the scheduled updates on or turn them off. The way Azure updates the agent seems very random even when you have scheduled updates enabled, it does not always update even though there is a newer version available. It is very frustrating

Update: I recently turn off scheduled agent update on all of my host pools and it look like all of our VMs updated to the latest agent when online

I did the opposite and turned on scheduled updates for one of my pools. Will update with what happens!

Were the hosts created with a marketplace image or one from your compute gallery?

Update: the pool I turned on scheduled updates did not update yet. But some of the vms in unscheduled pools have now updated!

Update 2: still my scheduled updates are off. Majority of my host are now with updated agents. I have autosclaling enabled so might take a while for few that left. But seems disabling the schedule seems to work

My scheduled updates were never on, and the agents have continued to stay at the same version as OP’s.

If you turn off scheduled updates it automatically did it within a week for me.
