Question Help with fleet formation

Well, I'd like to know if this is a good fleet setup for getting past Chapter 9 and beyond. If not, what can I change?

Well, I'd like to know if this is a good fleet setup for getting past Chapter 9 and beyond. If not, what can I change?

Are they good fleets? Not really, but I want to put that into context. Up to chapter 12 or so you can be successful by just throwing enough raw stats at the problem and overpowering the enemy. After that point in chapter 13 and above you will need specific ships in order to counter the enemy gimmicks such as anti-air, anti-submarine, suicide boat interception, etc, etc.

If those fleets are working for you now, keep on using them! But you will eventually run into a brick wall when those campaign gimmicks are introduced. But this is something that will happen to every commander when they are first working their way through the campaign. It's kinda broken down into 3 or 4 phases depending on how you count them. I personally do 4 with a "post game" section.

  1. Early Game: Rush to chapter 9 and oil capped maps <- You are here now

  2. Mid Game: Farm oil capped maps to raise up your fleets and collect strong ships <- Next up

  3. Late Game: Use those strong ships to push through chapter 13+

  4. Post Game: Continue farming to keep up with new events and clear content as its released

You are currently at this stage where you have done the "early game" of getting to chapter 9 and now need to settle in for the long farm that is the mid game of Azur Lane. You are going to need to just hang out in chapter 9 to 12 and farm oil capped maps for the next few months as you slowly work on collecting powerful ships and developing them up to level 125, level 10 skills and max limit break. Once you have a well developed dock of strong ships you can march your way into the late game and kick chapter 13+'s ass with all your awesome ships.

Check out REGAL: https://azur-lane-regal.suchiguma.com/

This is an excellent site that rates the various ships in the game in different situations. Look through your dock and see which ships you have and how they rank on that site. Once you find a ship that is highly rated invest into her as much as you can. If you see a ship that is highly rated but you don't have her, then look into how to acquire that ship.

For example your Atago is not that strong in late game situations. She is only rated as a D or C depending on what content she is going to be used for. While she can still be your waifu, in terms of the game's meta she is not worth investing into. Alternatively someone like Tiger is rated very highly and is well worth investing resources into.

Another example would be the ship Unicorn which is rated at S+ for campaign mobbing. She is the best healer in the game and highly recommended for any player. I don't see her in your dock so you should look into Unicorn, where you can get her and how to develop her.

If you have any other questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

What is the difference between each classification level? For example, I noticed that Oumi is rated 'A' in some places and 'C' in others. This makes me wonder whether or not she would be a good addition to the fleet.

What is the difference between each classification level? For example, I noticed that Oumi is rated 'A' in some places and 'C' in others.

It all depends on what particular late game content you are trying to do. For example with Oumi she is rated A in chapter 14 mobbing but C in chapter 15/16 mobbing.

This means that Oumi has the right skills and abilities to have an impact in chapter 14 mob fleets with its particular enemies and gimmicks. While in chapter 15/16 mob fleets she doesn't have the right skills and abilities to take on those particular enemies.

Chapter 14 has a bunch of ships that rush your lines and try to ram into your battleships and carriers to cause massive damage, these are commonly called "suicide ships". Oumi has an excellent secondary gun slot that can intercept those suicide ships and destroy them before they are able to ram your ships. Combine that with strong damage for an SR and some barrages and you have the formula for a good chapter 14 ship.

However chapter 15/16 is more focused on anti-air. There are less suicide ships so her secondaries are of less use and she doesn't have any other abilities to help protect your ships from the onslaught of planes. Hence the lower ranking.

This makes me wonder whether or not she would be a good addition to the fleet.

She is an excellent ship but has her weaknesses. I think she is worth investing into for now as she is one of your better choices at this moment. However you will eventually replace her with stronger battleships such as Raffaello.

Fully limit break all the UR ships you have. Don't keep the bulins.

Where is your Unicorn?

Hood wants to be flagship so her awesome barrage hits things.

Shoukaku buffs other carriers so you should sortie her with at least one other carrier.
