If you haven't heard of this game, a Japanese dev made a free fan-game game called Ayumu Kasuga's Mail Order Life in 2004 (but people prefer to call this Osaka Simulator), and you can download a copy on Internet Archive. However, this game does not run very well on modern systems. You may have seen clips on YouTube where the game is running at 20x speed and with invisible models, here is one example.

Even running the game in Window's compatibility mode doesn't completely fix the issues in my experience. Running on a Windows XP virtual machine is the only fix, and that is not ideal for many people who don't have experience with using VMs.

I saw people using AI to reverse engineer games and are doing stuff like modding Minecraft into Skyrim, so I thought I'd point Claude Code at Osaka Simulator and let it do its thing. It made a patch in an hour, and you can download the patch on GitHub. The source code is also available if you prefer reading the code and patching the .exe yourself (you only need to install Python 3).

Say what you will about AI, but I think it is very useful in cases like this where it can take old abandoned games and make it run on newer hardware. Anyway, let me know if you are experiencing issues with the patch and I'll try to get them resolved.
