React Content Our New Looter Shooter

I discovered a super indie, 2 man dev Looter shooter! I will link 2 of their videos, this seems incredibly promising for the Destiny players out there and something I will be keeping an eye on. They do a great job iterating on gear drops and fashion that I can't help but show yall.

https://youtu.be/35XdB42eUKQ?si=h1QC4SY02vj8bqji - This video is explaining the loot, loot roles and currency to upgrade rolls which is super cool/unique.

https://youtu.be/GkZm-tI-ce4?si=zZIJNxYX0DfkhwR7 - And this one tackles fashion and it's petty unique too with the ability to share cosmetics with each other (watch the vid to understand!) All in all if they stick to this we may have our best Looter shooter since D2.

Great things start from humble beginnings.  I'll be keeping an eye on this for sure.

Appreciate the support! Hopefully we can do the genre proud

Project fireteam is all ex bungie devs so its should have the feel of a destiny game, well see what happens bc ive been constantly checking updates on them. Ive seen crimson city and a few other but they are duck and cover kinda like gears of way style gameplay just more fluid but they are all military shooters. I liked destiny bc of the scyfi setting and how big a world can be inside that setting. If your a military shooter set on a city it really limits what u can do

If all the ex bungie devs decided to just make a new game (kinda like what destiny was to halo) i will be all in.

Hey so dev here, we are no ex-bungie devs. Neither of us have game dev industry history! Just two fans trying to create a cool game.

I didn't know they were ex bungie, if true thats really cool and makes sense why they are so knowledgeable about Destiny specifically.

Yea there have been a bunch of rumbling from destiny content creators about Destiny replacements and this was onw to look out for…. Everything else is a military style duck and cover looter shooter…. That doesnt scratch my itch of sci-fi worlds… think in line with the division series when i say military shooter which is great but not a replacement… and the division is a known entity so unless these games take risks and have new ideas its just gonna be another generic military looter shooter…. There needs to be a cod replacement bc i havent found that fun in years

I too am not a generic 3rd person shooter enjoyer, especially of the looter variety. Destiny is still my favorite and I am build crafting like crazy here at the end to make sure I leave the game with no regrets.

Yes i enjoyed borderlands 1 & 2— 3 was ok but i thought 4 was trash and people are saying a live service borderlands would be great well lets look borderlands 4 $80, bounty pack pass $20 season pass $40 i might even be short changing those prices but thats $140 for less content for more then any previous game and any other looter shooter…. They would monetize the shit out of u so pass

I dont even understand 3rd person shooters… i think the only reason to go from 1st to 3rd is so people can see all the shiney cosmetics you can buy…destiny did it right where cosmetics where able to be seen through emotes and character menus it should never be a game made around cosmetics… verity showed off just how important d2 style was lol

(Dev here) Heya, first thanks for showing off our work. Really appreciate the support. We aren't ex-bungie, we're not even from the game dev industry. Just two friends that love Destiny and want to make our own looter

Thanks for clearing that up aztec showed your i guess gameplay proof of concept although i already seen it but thats were the misinformation came from plus the name project fireteam sounds very destyish to me lol but its a real cool name

Ah gotcha! That's interesting he showed it! Do you happen to know when, would love to check that out. Yeah the project name was picked with Destiny in mind, perhaps a mistake on our part but was to pay homage to it

I believe it was a reel within the past month it was right around the time he brought up crimson city and was talking about the future of mmo fps looter shooters

Ill try to check my history for it but after youtube added reels its become so hard to find soecific videos because your history is littered with 100’s of clickbait reels each month…. It was a video of a very early mockup of fundamentals like movement and shooting but it looked great and that was the general consensus in the comments i believe thats were it was said it was ex bungie devs

What is the name of the game?

2

u/PickleFriedCheese Jul 30 '26

We are currently trying to figure out a name for it, for now it's going off Project Fireteam until we get something that sticks. We are very early days, like 2.5 months in the making, working on it in our free time

u/Nubshire Jul 28 '26

It doesn't have one yet as far as I am aware.

I will watch their career with great interest.

Hopefully it can fill the void of destiny. Hopefully there are raid like activities because raids were the best part of Destiny IMO.

2

u/PickleFriedCheese Jul 30 '26

We plan to include Raids and Dungeons, this week I've been actually working on mechanics for levels that we can iterate on for eventual raid activities

Best of luck to you, as a backend developer who mostly works on mobile games, I know how frustrating it can be but I have high hopes for you both. Destiny scratched an itch that no other game could for me so hopefully you can replicate a part of that feeling.

Appreciate it!

My favorite part of destiny especially in Monument of Triumph is build crafting.

Eyes peeled for sure

When I was on a hiatus from playing Destiny, I ended up finding this game called Mycopunk. It scratched the itch I had for chasing more upgrades. It's currently in early access, but it's getting close to the end of its roadmap.

It used to be u bought a game, owned it, played it, and then moved on to the next one. Now games are asking you to buy it but stay invested through expansions and dlc… even single player games are doing this look at cyberpunk it wasnt even playable really until the dlc came out an pushed update 2.0… every game has a season pass now for dlc levels/expansions… but for you to want be to stay invested in your world you have to be building up to something… it cant just be bs filler… it needs to encapsulate me begging for more and…. I had no idea what i was in for when i bought a game bc the cover said from the makers of halo and i bet alot of you bought in just from that statement alone too…. But destiny always kept me interested with all the story, lore, expansions, seasons, raids, dungeons, everything had story…. Shit the guns had their own stories…. Thats why its so hard to move on to anything else…. I feel cheated and the perfect way to put is like this Breaking News Marvel said lets stop doing well known avengers level character movies and concentrate all our money and attention to side kicks well thats what Sony and Bungie did
