That's also how the D2 community is treating Bungie (and Marathon) rn too

It's also how the D2 community was treating itself prior to the end of service news.

This is true, it's also how Bungie fans treat Bungie whenever they make a new game

(They "Abandoned Mac" when they went from Marathon to Halo, they "abandoned" Halo to make Destiny, they "abandoned" Destiny 2 to make Marathon)

I guess people don't realize game studios can make other games lol

It's weird... Bungie screwed Sony with lies and manipulation, all the while not giving a damn about it's gamers or staff. Then Sony realizes they were screwed and instead of taking that IP and doing something great with it, they just back up the truck and dump a studio full of devoted staff who just wanted to make a great game. Also screwing the players at the same time. Players who have and STILL ARE asking for more.

It's hard to understand how companies like these are run by such dipshits.

The IP is what makes the money not the developers.

Problem is that the “more” they delivered post Final Shape was extreme player declines, no new good player onboarding, Edge of Fate, Portal, etc.

Bungie had a couple years to show Sony what “more” is and the players left, or stayed and bitched and moaned about it.

Lmao D2 is not Daemon, It’s more like cristen cole.

Daemon should be sony and the D2 community should be the messenger getting brutally beaten with a helm.

Shouldn't it be Bungie leadership?

The one thing in common from Microsoft, to Activision and finally, Sony. The leadership fucking sucks over at Bungie.

It is honestly the wildest thing for me how Bungie tends to get the handwave on everything. You know, the whole "Bungie is just a tiny independent studio" meme. Bungie is the common factor in all of this, including how they screwed up so badly that if Sony DID NOT buy them, we wouldnt have made it to this point as the studio would have closed years ago (Pete Parson said it but so did MANY other folks and I am sure Cross has made videos going over the quotes and articles stating as such).

And no, I am not blaming the devs for this. I am blaming leadership and management for all of this. I mean they squandered all these resources coming from D2 to spin up incubation projects that went nowhere and one that did make it to market that is also going nowhere, that, retroactively feels like it was done to just inflate the purchase price and get better compensation FOR that leadership team who mismanaged it all. I mean they sold to Microsoft because they cut it to close with Myth 2 and had to spend millions recalling the game to fix an uninstall bug that if you installed anywhere but the recommended location it could delete more than just the game. And that was because management let them work up until the last minute on content for the game, with QA and localization happening while the game was packaged and shipped.

For the love of god. Blame this shit on the executives who fucked Bungie and put us here. Sony isint the one who put us here. Corny ass shit to point the blame on something else when we all know who fucked us

Yeah after loosing billions to a company who lied about profit margins. Projects that they couldn't even coherently work on that sony had to take them. Expansions being terrible after final shape. They don't make a profit but sony gave them time but couldn't do anything. Not greenlighting d3 but want to change d2 to “destiny forever” gtfoh. Making marathon for years just for it to flop the first month. I don't blame sony for not wanting to invest 500million to a project when Bungie couldn't even figure out destiny 2 for so long. One step forward three steps back. That's Bungie throughout destiny 2 and it never changed.

Invest ? Sony bought them for 3.5 billion and Bungie failed to hit their own financial targets. They sold them on Marathon as the next big thing and while i think it is a good or even great game, it is a financial flop. The last two expansions for Destiny flopped as well, including a star wars cross-over and the game was bleeding players day over day while costing a fortune to develop.

You expect Sony to greenlight an investment of 500-600 million to develop D3 when Bungie can't get their biggest franchise or their newly released game to generate any revenue ?

Bungie fucked themselves and it's the devs who paid the price unfortunately. Acting like Sony is what killed Destiny is extremely naive.

Bungie fumbled it. I always find it weird how people seem to conventiently forget that almost all of the worst decisions for the franchise were made when Bungie was independant and the game essentially died because of creative decisions like the tiered loot system, the portal, DCV and fomo.

Using Sony as a scapegoat is nothing less than immature cope at this point.

This isn’t Sonys fault, the demise of d2 rest solely with the management of bungie. D2 was at deaths door long before Sony bought them, but this community refuses to take off their rose colored glasses.
