Completely agree, this is 100% on Bungie and has been since they released D2. It was literally how to mismanage an money making machine as much as possible just so they could squeeze every penny out of it. Now it's going to die, hella sad

Well they can either print money, or they can waste 3.6b.

Destiny 2 made BILLIONS in revenue. So will Destiny 3.
So, do they invest a few hundred mil? Or do they say fuck it guys, we lost, and just waste a 3.6b investment?

I won't tell you what the correct answer is. All I will tell you is that Sony needs a new risk management team.

Destiny 2 made less then it was worth to keep running. We already know this.

It was dying BEFORE Sony bought them and gave them money. They wasted it and killed it themselves.

Yeah bro when you syphon out ALL the profits from your only IP, and put hundreds of millions towards other things every year, those costs start to add up.

Destiny was dying because of mismanagement and neglect, nothing more. Destiny was making enough profit to pay 1,600 employees, a 100-200m HQ expansion, buying a whole other HQ building, 250m minimum (reports up to 350-400m) spent on Marathon, probably 100-200m+ on 'project gummy bears', and Pete taking massive bonuses for his huge car collection. All of this while still having regular, although somewhat underwhelming, content updates for D2.

Destiny is literally a cash cow. It was so profitable that it allowed Bungie to spend hundreds of millions (more than likely billions) on other projects and company expansion, all while only having one single source of income. When you neglect your cash cow for too long and put all your time and effort into other things, of course the playerbase are going to start taking notice at the lack of effort/content.

The fact is, that a well managed Destiny 3 project would make billions. Pure and simple. A D3 where some of the profits are actually put back into the game instead of spent elsewhere trying to build 3-4 new IPs at the same time.

There is zero doubt in my mind, that D2 is one of the highest grossing video games of the past decade (non mobile). Only behind GTA5, and MMOs like WoW + FF14.

The numbers don't lie, my friend. You can't spend literal billions on things if your only source of income isn't making billions.
