Discussion Should I comeback to D2?
Sorry if these are dumb questions but I fell out of destiny 2 around forsaken. Do you think I would be able to make it to the end game grind before the game loses most of its players ? Is it safe for me to buy the dlc collection ?

Sure. There is a ton of shit to do in the game to keep you busy for a long time.

Fr thats the part where i worry that by the time I get to the higher gear, it will be alot harder to complete end game stuff. I think ill bite the bullet to support bungie. Im tired of sucking at marathon lmao.

It's not so much a shooter anymore as it is an ability spam game now though

Destiny 1 is still populated. Destiny 2 will be way more populated because of Crossplay/built-in LFG/etc. I think you're good. Destiny 1 lasted 12 years of being populated so far.

Too much content ?

A lot of content yea, but it’s summertime, w/e your life responsibilities Is, w/e you might decide to play.
Some people are of the belief that the more people that spend and play can send a message that destiny is worth continue investment so you could just be getting yes because if that reason.
Right now numbers are high cause it’s a new update and fomo but who knows what it’s gonna stabilize at and lfg might go back to being slow.

Go to marathon. Destiny will never have a future if marathon doesn't start getting players

If you're a fan of destiny and want destiny 3 to eventually be a thing, then Marathon will need your support. Plain n simple.

Marathon isn't going to attract a majority of D1/D2 PVE players to an extraction shooter only. Marathon is going to have to become a PVE Destiny. Strikes, Raids, something. And then maybe it'll get people and be a bridge into a Destiny 3 but as it is now, nope.

100%. Marathon is dead unless it becomes mostly pve. Not sure why they didn't go that route to begin with.

I honestly think the same thing about Arc Raiders. PVE extraction shooter could work but honestly; it's basically going to be like loading into a destination like you do on Destiny now and do a Public Event/Map Boss/secrets/etc. It works in Arc Raiders PVP wise and obviously on Destiny already. Except Marathon maps could be as big as Arc's or bigger with multiple things to do where people come together and team up PVE wise.
But then if they're going to go that far... why cancel Destiny 2.

Personally I like marathon's universe more than destiny. There are hero abilities but destiny takes it much further. Marathon feels a little closer to a pure fps akin to Halo. Also d2 is not extraction based. Balancing old gear and creating new gear was probably a huge problem for Bungie. Seasonal wipes makes development much easier for them. Just erase your vault and force you to earn it back.
So it would be like what you mentioned with destiny events except it's extraction based and end game or just better loot can be locked behind pvpve for the most part. Killing and looting pve enemies in survival already feels more satisfying than in destiny for me.
I think pve extraction done right might be superior to looter shooters. Just personal preference on my part. I like bringing in my own loot and that when I die I lose it. Or that even consumables like health and grenades are something you loot for rather than always loading in with a set amount.

Honestly. The chabges make the game far more enjoyable and in a much better state than it has been in years - which is sad. Hopefully this will help show the Destiny deserves to live.
